How I Got The Game to Work on Windows 11

I have windows 11 and for those of you who have the game on 10 or 11 and have not gotten the game to work try this. This is the multicore fix and is one of the most important things. You should do this for Fallout 3 and New Vegas if you have a quadcore processor (or any processor with more than 2 cores). The Gamebyro engine (which runs fallout 3 and NV) has issues with 2 or more cores. This fix forces the game to run on two cores. It will fix a LARGE majority of crashing for most people. Go to /Documents/My games/Fallout 3/ Find fallout.ini Open with notepad Use find (Ctrl F) and type "bUseThreadedAI=0" without quotes Replace "bUseThreadedAI=0 " with "bUseThreadedAI=1" Add an extra line and type "iNumHWThreads=2" *If you STILL have a lot of crashes you can reduce that number to 1 but it will effect game performance. * I did not have these two lines of text but after adding them the game works fine.

An aged classic!

Fallout 3 was the first title I bought myself that had an 18+/M-rating, before that I had either been buying The Sims expansions or getting old hand second hand titles (Tomb Raider II, Fallout 1, The Simpsons Hit n Run, etc.). Thus it is with great nostalgia I look back on this game. I recently started a final replay of the game, to play it with a more recent mindset. And what a game huh? Leaving the Vault for Springvale is still one of my most iconic gaming moments to this day. Together with the DLCs, I'd say that Fallout 3 is still, despite being a bit rough on the edges in the Gamebryo engine, a game that holds up. The story is simple, good vs evil, but exploring the Capital Wasteland is not only fun but genuinly interesting at times. Coming to the DLCs; Point Outlook and The Pitt are clearly the better ones. Anchorage is a fun concept, Broken Steel is good if you want more out of the game and uhhh Mothership Zeta? We're not gonna talk about that, in fact we're not gonna talk about Mothership Zeta at all! In conclusion; Fallout 3 is perhaps an aged classic but if you still want to relive the reboot of the Fallout series, go ahead.

Adventures in the Capital Wasteland

Fallout 3 was my first game in the Fallout universe, and I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to go back and play Fallout and Fallout 2 to see where it all began. Those are very different games, but worth playing in their own right, especially if you want to experience the history of the series. Unlike previous titles in the series, you play the game from a first-person perspective (or an "over-the-shoulder" third-person perspective once you complete the tutorial). Your early life in Vault 101 acts as a tutorial and character creator, as you configure attributes using the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck). You also learn how to use your Pip-Boy 3000. Finally, you come of age and emerge from Vault 101 into the Capital Wasteland where your adventure begins. Lots of quests and many, many side quests later (this is a Bethesda game, remember), you will achieve your goals. This Game of the Year edition also includes all the DLC: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta, which are all worth playing through. Grab a Nuka-Cola and start exploring!

Cloud Saves

Got this game on Steam - no cloud saves there. Lost my progress several times. Bought here because of Cloud Saves. But now i'm saved. And it works without any tweeks and without Windows Live. Also i don't care about mods.

I'm really happy that you've made this game, which is one of my favorite Fallouts next to New Vegas. I only managed to get the Steam version to work with great difficulty and a few adjustments, and it was pretty buggy. Thank you for giving this old classic so much love and finally getting it to work on newer systems, which has brought a part of my youth back to life.
