Gog changed my fallout 2 review's rating and won't let me change it back so I'll post the real rating here

I beat this game a year or two, though only now through to write a review on it, so sorry if I misremember anything. I also used a guide since I didn't want to wander around aimlessly and wanted to do everything in my first run. With that out of the way, I though the game was alright, though nothing special. It showed its age, and while I can't fault it for being old and dated, it doesn't make it more fun for me. I did have fun with it, but it wasn't anything I have any interest in replaying. The combat wasn't bad, but the random encounters got annoying very quickly, and the RNG felt too D&D to be fun (in a "you roll a 1, so you are penalized because "wacky!'" sense, which isn't nearly as fun as when it happens with friends), and every skill check is a chance, not a skill-threshold like New Vegas, which was annoying from the start. I never cared for freedom in games that was just "you can kill kids" or other stuff like that, so that aspect didn't do anything for me. The exploration wasn't nearly as fun as in 3 and NV since it's just a dot moving over a map with random encounters. The special encounters are neat, but other than being references or giving the player the most powerful gun in the game, there's not much going for them. The story was enjoyable enough, but was a bit of a fetch quest and being told to go to X or Y. I you want to give it a try, go for it. Just be aware that it doesn't match the hype that much.

I finally decided to try this classic game. The graphics and user interface are very dated, but not deal breakers. It has a good story, great art and concept, and a dark sense of humor. So far so good. The dealbreaker for me is the numerous bugs. User interface features, such as indicators to tell you when you are or are not in Stealth mode, routinely stop working, necessitating a client restart. Switch away to read the manual and there is no switching back without going into the dark recesses of the Process List in Task Manager. That might be livable, even, were it not for the entirely broken combat system. Enemies routinely shoot through multiple "solid" obstacles, such as multiple layers of walls inside buildings (no I don't mean windows), eliminating any concept of tactics. At first, I thought maybe it was just one map, but then it kept happening again and again. Oh well... time to look for something else.

Someone said all children are removed and all drugs are called chems, but THAT'S HOW THE GAME WAS DESIGNED. They didn't change that. Idk about everything else, but THOSE things are how the game ALWAYS WAS. I can't speak to anything else because I haven't played their copy yet, but just wanted to say that

I think, a lot of people will support me: Many fans of Fallout want to remember this happy hours, when they played Fallout. But, a lot of them have a Mac, and they don't have this opportunity to play Fallout. We don't want to use other ways, such as emulation and other, we want to play in normal version of this game, with the minimum bugs. We are waiting for Fallout. And we will wait it, as some fans HL wait for HL3. :)
