Turn-based strategic came to my heart.
It made me fall in love with turn-based strategic games. It is not the best, for sure, but it had "something" enough to keep you hooked all the evening fighting against taurans for the survival of your colony.

Simple and fun.
Good Old Games :) Childhood memories. Simple game but fun game for sure. I spent hours as a kid playing this. Lightweight. Not much depth to it. Build your base, go on missions and kill some aliens.

Old as my childhood
Since I was a kid I love this game. The game play is simple (simplistic as well) to the point that most games would just outright suck. But there is some magic that is captured in this game that I cannot explain. Probably the multi-province system, but I'm not quite sure that is it. I just now that a) it is terrible the second game falls so far away from this formula and b) I wish someone with a similar vision would pick on and improve this game. It deserved to have the 3rd faction expanded and some additional introduced to have a bigger campaign like DoW Dark Crusade.
