“Back in the earliest days, there was no sun and the world was dark. The heavens opened up and stars fell like beacons into the pitch black world, and they were known as “Embers”. Powerful and wise druids of a primordial race, “the Lightbringers," roamed the land searching for this luminous matter. They performed a ritual of awakening to call the “Embers” out of their deep sleep. Suddenly the world became bright, and the veil of darkness was lifted. The Embers were the embodiment of magical flame, light, and life, but as word spread about the sheer power of the Embers, they came to be hunted and captured…and so the War for Ember began…”
Gameplay overview
A passion project 10 years in the making, Ember is a homage to classic role-playing games (RPG). Enter the world of Ember as a resurrected “Lightbringer” summoned to protect the dying Embers as the world is on the brink of collapse. Beginning in the Deep Barrows, traverse vast environments divided between above ground and underground realms – ranging from lush forests to dry deserts and dark abysses – to reach the City of Light. See how the story unfolds through encounters with strangers by making pivotal decisions about your own destiny.

Very surprized about this little rpg.Great to pass the time looks great to as far as the graphics go effects, enviroments and animations, and the gameplay is simple enough to pickup. Its combat system alows for the player to fight in real time or to pause the game for a more strategic approach. It could have done with an option for disabling subtitles and damage info if the player wished, but this does not ruin the gameplay in anyway. The developers have done a great job, needs a bit of dlc to expand it.
The absolute worst thing about this game is the combat chatter. Not only is it boring and repetitive, but it turns the entire party into a bunch of sociopaths who treat life-and-death combat like it's some sort of sporting event. It's never a good thing if the characters you most want to kill in the game are your own party members. Luckily the combat chatter can be turned off by turning the voice volume all the way down to zero.
Aside from that, it's a mostly OK combat-heavy rpg with a bunch of terrible design decisions. For example, you don't learn skills, you temporarily gain access to them by using equipment that has the skill attached. This means that the only real difference between your party members is how you distribute their attributes. It also means that you can only have three skills in your skill bar at any one time. And you're totally at the mercy of the random number god for getting the skills you want.
Other pet peeves include level-and-stat-restricted equipment, way too many equipment drops, way too much combat, annoying difficulty spikes at the boss fights which require level grinding to bypass, and half of the books in the goblin library would have to have been written after the goblins took over, which makes no sense continuity-wise. I can tolerate most of these flaws in a Diablo-like where the combat is actually fun and exciting, but not in a party-based pause-to-give-orders wait-while-the-party-fights game.
The absolute best things about this game is the various lore books. The game would actually be improved by publishing the lore books as an actual book and throwing the rest of the game away.
Review in english:
very good game to get started with group-based RPGs since its mechanics are very simple and intuitive, the story is interesting and it fulfills its function, which is to keep you glued to the game. Graphically, it is a result with a cartoon artistic style that does not age badly, from what I have seen few people have developed it, so my most sincere congratulations. I recommend this game 100%
You know what I actually really liked this. It's a fun little indie game. Isomtric ARPG style, while a bunch of the story and lore was pretty forgettable and largely standard faire milquetoast, with a foreseeable twist at the end, it's one of the few random indie gems hidden in the rough I picked up and somehow was engaged enough to beat, iirc took me about a good 20-30 hours, idk the gameplay loops was just fun enough and casual enough I breezed through it.
It's objectively a solid 4/5, high praise considering that translates to 8/10 so I'd go with good 7/10. Nothing unforseen or mindblowing about it, graphically or otherwise. It's just a really fun little game.
