A solid dope game
I spent countless hours playing this title. Its nice to see a company support us since E3, now supports PC cross play with Steam, GOG, Epic

Wonderful wonderful experience!
So, I bough this game because it went on sale. I normally hate open world games that don't at least give you the option of switching back and forth between first and third person. This game sticks you in first the whole time. I grabbed it because I like zombie games... and open world games... and it was cheap. I wasn't expecting to get sucked in like I did. Many late nights literally getting the crap scared out of me as zombies attacked or swarmed. It was literally mid-game before I had the confidence to take my character outside during the nighttime where the more difficult zombies roamed. This game incited fear in me, and that made it all the more realistic. This game has everything you want in an open world survival horror: Great storytelling, crafting, wonderful voice acting, beautifully dismal graphics depicting a collapsed city... AND ZIP-LINES! So much to do and so much to take in. I was shocked by the quality of everything. Oh, and me being stuck in first person? It turned out to not be so bad. It pushed the realism. I couldn't see behind me, I couldn't see around me... If i heard a noise I had to turn to check it out. It was great. The amount of abilities to learn, the amount of items to craft, the amount of characters to interact with, the sheer number of zombies... The STORY!!! I couldn't put it down. Seriously a great experience. (Also, exploding arrows into hordes of zombies... it was beautiful.) It's worth it if you see this game on sale. Seriously. By end-game you're pretty overpowered, but you had to work your butt off for it! So enjoy the powerlessness and go pwn those zombies! (Look up pwn... It's a thing. An older thing. It means dominate.) You get the picture. Go play and enjoy.

Multiplayer DOES Work!
A great game that needs no introduction. If you're a zombie game fan, it doesn't get much better than this. The atmosphere is chilling, the story is fitting, and it's just pure fun where it'll be easy for you to stray away from the main story due to the rich world to explore, as well as side missions. Contrarily to most recent reviews, as of the time of publishing this review, the multiplayer works fine. I was able to host a public session (which I then switched to private) and have a friend from Steam join it. We had a blast in it, and I had no crashes or anything like it in a fairly long session. Super fun. But keep mind however that GOG Galaxy IS required in order to play Multiplayer. But if you use it, it does work fine. I'm playing on Linux, which should make matters worse, and I had no problems. It is a shame however that the LAN mode is also locked behind the Galaxy launcher.

Amazing!
I own the Enhanced Edition since 2018 even though it doesnt say I own it. I was not prepared for how amazing this game is before I finally tried it in 2018! The graphics are amazing, not even a hiccup now that I have 32g of RAM and its a huge open world with amazing graphical detail. The character models are good, but it's the environmental detail where this game really looks amazing. Even after lowering the settings and disabling some to make up for my lack of RAM when I had only 8g. The sound is clear and immersive from the moans and screams of the undead, to bottles being rolled around as they shamble through the streets, the sound and graphics make a highly immersive experience. The presentation and atmosphere creates a sense of immersion and tension that I havent experienced from a game in years. Just exploring the island and surviving is fun, but there are interesting missions and many Easter Eggs for the player to find. It creates a feeling of an apocolypse on the island, so you only meet a handful of living people even in a city. Some went bad in order to survive, some try to keep to themself, and some have just went completely insane. The game itself is an open world, first person game with RPG elements and parkour similar to the AC series. It seems like an odd mix, but it makes a very fun experience. There is a day/night cycle that creates constant tension, especially earlier to mid game. At night you only have a small flashlight to see, so youre constantly checking your back. The zombies get stronger, faster, and more aggressive at night. In addition there are much more powerful and mobile enemies that come out at night. You can find a safe zone and sleep to make it day again, but XP is significantly increased at night as well as the quality of drops and items you may find. In addition to a standard story, there are many side stories to find. The crafting is well done. The bottom line is this is an excellent game that is well worth even full price.

AC Super Actually Good Edition + Zombies
This is a game that seemingly makes all the right decisions with its mechanics; the antagonist is agile and adept, like I wished you were in Assassin's Creed games. There is a broad crafting system, forcing you to scrounge for components, if you wish to partake, but it's not that tedious. There is a learning curve...like attacking a gun-wielding enemy with a hammer. My advice: craft/buy a bow (the Ranger Bow DLC is the only weapon I used the entire game, after crafting): its craft components are fairly common, and regular arrows are constructed from common components. This turned the game into what I wanted it to be, though the choice is yours. Bows also don't degrade, and at least this bow has perfect handling, so slap in 2 +2 dmg upgrades for 500 dmg (can also create/buy 3 other types of arrows). And arrows can mostly be retrieved (some just disappear). It's also a silent weapon, so it doesn't draw virals, unlike guns (except for explosive arrows). This also frees up alcohol for use with just medpacs, instead of dividing with Molotovs, which you won't need anymore. You'll see/hear things about your successes, like a crowd of people talking about your fighting technique, which is a nice touch. There are interesting sidequests with interesting characters involved. The parkour is solid and enjoyable. I didn't do much melee, but really enjoyed the Ranger Bow's play. The Following changes up for the formula, but in a good way - adding a buggy (which is fun to drive) and respective skill tree. You'll be in the countryside instead of a favela and city. It's not perfect... - There's the annoying trope of lose all your weapons (multiple times) and fight with weapon with which you are unfamiliar...then you have to individually place them back into your inventory, instead of auto-requip. - Some boss fight scenarios where the game's formula completely changes. - Some intense areas where you arbitrarily lose access to your grappling hook, for tension purposes.
