DREDGE

I'm not one to enjoy cozy fishing games so I was a bit hesitant to play this but I saw it at PAX and thought I should at least give it a shot. Wow. I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. I dont enjoy fishing games. Cozy games are okay but unless they are on special I dont really find them fun. But this game took both those and then added a smallest hint of Mythos (see HP Lovecraft inspired cosmic horror) and it did it in the perfect ratio. This isnt a horror game or a fishing game or a story of a small fishing community with a secret but all three. Its so much fun that when I sat down to play it I ended up doing a 15 hour straight marathon and then the next day finished it. 20 hours seems about right for doing all the quests but ignoring the special hidden stuff (I probably will go back one day and do them with the DLC) and I hightly recommend the game. Graghics are simple and yet super effective. The madness mechcanic is just perfect, not comp[ex or weird just simple and perfect. The fishing is actually fun given its mostly just Quick Time Events but really its all it needs to be. The music is sooo good that I went out of my way to buy the soundtrack and the sound effects work great for it. It doesnt need voice overs but perhaps that will be what Dredge 2 brings if a sequel comes about. If not, it works for what it is. The ending I wont spoil but I felt was kinda poigant and exactly what you expect from such a game though Im sure others will find it annoying... maybe Ive just read too much HP Lovecraft to know there are no happy endings.

Its just a good game, part relaxing, part horrifying, but mainly I really like seeing the number go up.

A very beautiful game with its own style and atmosphere. I like to sit down at it late at night and race for half an hour on a calm sea between mysterious islands. A good system of pumping the boat and gear, interesting quests, although some of them are too easy, and some seem impossible. How long have I been chasing the "blue mackerel", although as I understand it is not necessary. Separately, it is worth praising the graphics and soundtrack, they make the game very cute and give it its own special mysterious atmosphere. I like the style of the game artist.

Amazing art style, the game isnt too long but its long enough.
