Self aware fun

First of all this is Van Helsing's story who is chasing Dracula all over the world and it is an outstanding mix between serious and lighthearted. I laughed when someone tried to poison Van Helsing's camel in order to bar him from reaching another location and noone wanted to rent him another one so first he had to find a cure for the sick camel. There is much more of this kind of subtle bittersweet humour but there are suprisingly also quite dark moments. I really like Van Helsing's voice acting that adds to this ambiguity. He is just very cool in this one. The difficulty of the puzzles is mostly just right and you won't get lost because the game won't let you leave the area before everything needed for the progression is done. The game won't even let you to solve a puzzle that is at the time unsolveable (if you miss something). You can also press spacebar and see all the possible interactions. So no boring backtracking. That is a good thing. It is a really good system, everything goes in a logical order which saves your time and nerves. Just remember to inspect everything and only when Van Helsing writes it down in his notebook it is inspected (if there is an "eye" icon just always click on it).

mouaif plus que bof

Bon déjà pour commencer, ma référence en point and clic c'est "Gabriel Knight: sin of of the Father" Très immersif malgré des graphismes ultra pixélisé, et terriblement prenant, anti héros charismatique... Du coup, je me disais que les graphismes de Dracula Origin avaient l'air sympa , ambiance gothique, origine des vampires mais.... Quelle sensation de vide, aucune ambiance dans ce jeu, rien n'est prenant, immersif. Tout à l'air vide et sans âme. Musiques aucunement inspirées, répétitives... Alors on se dit que le scénario va être prenant lui, mais que néni les amis. Ultra convenu, vu et revu, on s'ennuie à mourir. D'ailleurs si seulement le héros pouvait mourir... Quelle tête à claque, impossible de s'y identifier tellement il est hautain, méprisant et dédaigneux. Les énigmes sont dans la moyenne, rien d'impossible, pas de grands challenges tellement le jeu vous prend par la main. Perso je déconseille, pourtant j'adore l'univers vampirique mais la, je me force à le finir, qu'est ce que je m'ennuie, qu'est ce que l'histoire m'indifère,qu'est ce que j'espère que Dracula va le tuer ce Van Hesling (je sais que non mais...)

Weird Curse of Strahd Game

So this was an average puzzle game at first, a bit weird atmosphic, some strange logic, but over all fun. Then we start getting lore about Dracula. And - nothing against the devs/writers - it is obvious they stole most of the "origin" from the book 'I, Strahd' (1993). They changed Irena to Irina and Sergi being Strahd's brother to Von his cousin. My friends and I laughed our heads off at the blatant knockoff.

Puzzles fairly logical, small "hitboxes"

Sometimes it's hard to recognize, which items can be interacted with but at least the puzzles are not Sierra-level cryptic

Better than most Dracula games

You play entirely as Abraham Van Helsing in this game and while it initially seems like it is going to make some effort to follow the novel Dracula, it doesn't take long for it to go off the rails and be Dracula in name only. Having said that, the plot isn't the worst thing about the game. This is on the whole an adventure game. You'll want to do adventure game stuff, like find stuff to pick up, possibly manipulate it by combining it with other items in your inventory. What you probably were not expecting was to have to do a bunch of math puzzles nor were you expecting to have to push a bunch of balls to form a specific pattern. If these do not sound fun, you are going to want to find yourself a walkthrough before purchasing. The game can be played entirely with the mouse where you navigate by clicking on screen, but there will be times where the camera angle shifts such that anyone who played Resident Evil will be having flash backs to RE tank controls due to odd camera angles. The worst of this occurs in the Cairo Museum, where you will find yourself wandering about looking for stuff and occasionally not finding it even though you're in the right area in general just due to the camera angle you currently have. Also as a side note, Dracula Love Kills is a direct sequel to this game where you play Dracula and still hot for Mina. Although it is a hidden object game with a rather campy plot, it is actually significantly more fun than Dracula Origin if you like the hidden object genre. I would give this game a solid 5/5 and because the copy of DLK that I have is marred with DRM, I will be repurchasing the GOG version... I wouldn't say the same about Dracula Origin.
