A whimsical tropical escapade
Breezy and cute, mysterious, hilarious, creepy, challenging and frustrating as heck. I started playing this when I really needed a break from the winter chill and I found it in this gorgeous little game. I had already done some hard time with the first Don't Starve and I was ready for a new angle on this perma-death creepy survival game made with exquisite 2D line drawn-effect animation and super surreal witty endearing characters and plot-twists. This has to be the Adam's family of gaming, except with sharper teeth that will find your jugular again and again. I still find the soundtrack and the sound-effects endearing, and I am intrigued and frightened by the minds that have made the treasure that is Don't Starve and all of its off-shoots. I think it's a wonderful buy at any price but an insanely priced bargain on sale. I have spent many many hours playing Shipwrecked and I think I will spend many more. But please be warned that unless you choose to hack the game, it is challenging and there are soooo many ways to die apart from Starving! But if you enjoy quirkiness, and you think you can get used to dying again and again until you get better at battling your way through the myriad of things that can bite you or poison you or get you in a tremendous variety of mortal blows, your journey to death sweetened with a massive dose of cute and weird, you will love this too.
