Dungeon Crawler, done right

I'm not a big fan of dungeon crawlers, either the old, ASCII types (although I was a huge Rogue player once), or the modern version, aka "Diablo-clones". I usually get bored from all the meaningless clicking and give up after 2-3 dungeons. However, I found Din's curse to be perfect for me, and I am drawn to it without any feeling of boredom or repetitiveness. The dynamic nature of the game, randomly generating a town-dungeon and infesting them with different monsters that create different quests keeps generating interest. The difficulty level is very well balanced by default, and the upgrade system is simple enough to understand but complex enough for tweakers. The nature of the game creates what is commonly referred to as "emergent narratives", either heroic or catastrophic, and always very engaging. This game is for both dungeon crawler fans who want a new take on the formula, and for non-fans, who might find this game answering all their issues with said formula. Highly recommended.

A pleasant surprise!

Din's Curse initially coasted under my radar until a recent sale on the site and I can happily say I decided to buy it along with its expansion, Demon War. With a robust skill system and very interesting, and effective, take on a dynamic world system, Din's Curse is probably the most fun I've had playing an loot-driven ARPG in some time. The single player experience alone has been more than enough to keep me interested since the way quests, and world, work adds more than enough incentive to play (while the skill system, simple though it may be, keeps it fun). The quests can change quickly depending on what you do or don't do and, most importantly, the world won't always wait for you to decide. Essentially, all quests are subject to change! Let some boss linger for too long? They might send allies to other floors, build machines or send something to attack the town. Or, if you're really unlucky, you might just spawn into a cursed world! Monster infighting also occurs regularly, which can create some pretty interesting scenarios. Even NPCs can change the outcome of a quest! (Wait to long to rescue someone? They might just walk themselves out!) The game also allows itself to be tailored to different play styles. Before starting a new game there are options allowing for dungeons of varying sizes and worlds with different modifiers. The game isn't without its flaws, but I was so surprised at how fun it was that I barely noticed them. Some items look a bit weird and some sounds are a bit repetitive and a number of the class combos seem same-y. However, those aren't major issues as Din's Curse has a lot more in it to enjoy!

Kinda Fun if Mindless

Not a bad game. I see where it is compared to other ARPG (action role playing games) like Diablo Divine Divinity or Torchlight, etc. In truth, this game does not compare favorably with the likes of Diablo. Din's cure is VERY randomly created unlike Diablo, which has some semblance of a plot. Divine Divinity has predominant story elements. Perhaps the best comparison is with Torchlight - both games are very random. Torchlight, however, has great graphics and Din's are tolerable but not outstanding. I did like the added element, mentioned elsewhere, of attacks against your home base town that must be thwarted. Not a waste of a purchase, but don't expect epic game play.

Unique in it's genre

I'm really enjoying this game. I never heard of this developer before but they seem to have a good following of fans of thier games. It's a Diablo style game with very unique mechanics, the game is quite unique for this genre. Like having to keep saving the people of different towns. You have to earn reputation by completing quests and you can lose reputation if a quest fails even if you didn't except the quest. Gaining reputiation with Din is one of the main goals of the game. It is a living world with things happening around you and regardless of you which is fascinating. One top review mentions the art design of the game being cheap but I think the game looks fine, in fact, I like the way the game looks visually, while the graphics may be "cheap", it is tastefully done. Well worth the few dollars I paid for it and I will be checking out this developer's other games.

Great Old school Game

Din’s Curse is a fantastic action RPG with a really fun gameplay loop. The dungeons are always random, so each run feels fresh, and there's this constant pressure to protect your town from disasters while exploring. The combat is solid, and leveling up your character feels rewarding.
