The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly - killing thousands; drugs, disease and pollution kill even more. The world's economies are close to collapse and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor grows ever wider. Worst of all, an ages old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control.

Still a great game!
Many regard Deus Ex as one of the greatest PC games of all time, and they're not entirely wrong. The game provides sandbox level designs giving the player plenty of options on how to tackle and complete objectives with a wide variety of tools and customization. Even though the game is easily recommendable, it's good to let everyone know it may require a bit of tweaking to set the game up as best as possible on your PC. Once that's done, it's a joy to play, even today.

Truly a Good Old Game
Deus Ex is a masterpiece. One of the best games ever made. Great story, great gameplay and on top: a near perfect implementation of RPG elements.

A blast from the past
If you, like many others are currently in the wait for Cyberpunk 2077, then this game is fantastic to bridge the time gap. Its fun exploring the many different maps, and playing the game YOUR way. Many games nowadays like to hold your hands at every opportunity possible, and its really refreshing to see how games developed back then let you yourself enjoy the game in whatever way you want to play. Essentially it is a stealth RPG, even though you can play as a gun wielding maniac killing every single enemy you encounter. Throughout the game you will unlock certain augmentations, that will aid you in stealth, combat, or are for general utility purposes. This absolute freedom allows you to find out information about the story and characters that wouldnt normally be accessible at certain points, but these findings will impact conversations and sometimes the lives of your favorite character might depend on it. The OST is really enjoyable as well, and just adds to the fantastic atmosphere and immersion of the game. I got so invested into the story and lore that I read every single ingame newspaper and data cube. The characters are extremely memorable, and the fact that your decisions impact the gameplay so drastically makes your choices really matter. The 30 hours out of 7 Euros that I got out of just one playthrough of this game are a testiment to how much there is to do in the game. Im thrilled to see what the other games in this franchise have in store, but for all lovers of the Cyberpunk or Stealth game genre, this is a must play.

Well designed game, but it got very old
I bought this game because I heard that Deus Ex series is quite good. I've never played thjs game before, so it has no nostalgic value or stuff like this for me. I actually haven't expected from this game such story. It is quite long and i have to say it's engaging, I wasn't bored playing, progression is good. You even have the influence on how some events will end up with your decisions, and you can finish the game on 3 different ways, so that's actually gread for a game from 2000. Locations are ok, most of the game takes place inside buildings, but they are quite complex and allow you to complete the missions with different styles. You can go rambo mode and shoot everything, you can move silently through vents and avoid enemies, you can hack computers and defences - it's up to you. I won't judge the graphics. I can't demand any breathtaking views from a 21 years old game. But it doesn't look ugly, it's just old. My only issue is that this game is insanely dark. As it is an RPG game, there are some upgrades available in a form of augmentations - nanotechnology that enhances your character. There are a lot of them so you can select wide range of skills which will fit your playstyle, but they are divided in a categories for every limb. And if you select one augmentation from a category, you won't be able to pick another one, so you will have to think what you will need. There is also good range of weapon upgrades, which are very useful. I went for an aggresive playstyle, exterminating everything i could. And I got frustrated with the fighting in this game. It takes long time to aim at something without top tier skills. NPCs run in some weird patterns (looks to me like not the best pathfinding), so you can shoot quickly at them because they are very hard to hit while moving. Hitting something in melee is almost a miracle. Best is to take down enemies from a distance when they don't see you with a headshot. Not a fan. It's good and fun game, but requires patience.
