Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Deus Ex has rightly been called the best PC game ever. The music, story, missions, characters, all great. In fact, there is only one game that could possibly touch it and it's not on GOG yet. That game is System Shock II. To call yourself a gamer, these must both be in your collection. C`mon GOG, try and get SSII on deck also! Anyways, very well done to GOG for getting this Warren Spector masterpiece.

Look this is probably one of my favorite games of all time and I played it only two yrs ago by buying a copy on Amazon. It has every quality of a perfect game. It has an amazing story. It has amazing non-linear gameplay. In this game you can go into areas guns a-blazing or you can sneak around to get to mission objectives, its totally up to you. It has tons of side missions and secrets and is truly massive. It is also unbelievably immersive. Seriously once you start this game you really won't be able to stop. The world Ion Storm created was so cool and interesting and its just really a flawless game in every sense of the word. Just get it I promise you you won't regret for a second.

Got DX:GOTY with my Audigy X-Gamer in 2000, played it and it's been on every computer I've had since. There are SO many ways to get things done in Deus Ex and so many ways the player can 'power up' that I can almost guarantee if you play it once and like it--you WILL play it again...and again. The original Deus Ex is on many long-time reviewers' lists of the greatest PC games of all time and it's not surprising. You can play it straight or there are enough cheats to choke a karkian. Exploring the game's interpretation of the middle of this century combined with exploration and just the right mix of action keeps the experience fresh. Players can get even MORE replayability by installing some of the great mods out there such as The Shifter Mod and Clorf's BioMod, both available from ModDB. These take nothing away from the ever-flowing challenge of the game and enhance it to help keep things interesting. Deus Ex, IMO is the Gold Standard of action RPGs. I HIGHLY recommend people purchase it--from GOG of course--and prepare for many, MANY hours of satisfying gameplay.

This is one of those games that I can never put down for long. Sure, a lot of that is probably due to nostalgia...but this game is GOOD! It's because of games like this (and System Shock) that we have Bio Shock and games like it. Still, Deus Ex has a story that is very unique, and that really the constant draw for me. The new game did a decent/good job of recapturing that aspect, and I hope they continue!

I'm normally not the greatest fan of old games (yea I know, what am I doing on GOG?) -- anyway. This is by far the game I've played the most and enjoyed the most. I found new things about the characters and story in my 9th playthrough. There's nothing as a creepy as goofing around in random people's apartments - completely out of the way of the main story and suddently being adressed via an answering machine. There are so many ways of approaching each obstacle in this game and thinking is rewarded. Finally, the game has a wonderful, engaging and well written story. Buy it, you really can't go wrong.
