Great game, loose story, buggy

This is a very enjoyable point and click game. Not as long as some of my favourite big hitters (MI, Grim Fandango, Tony Tough) but quite a big world with 2 and a half acts. Laugh out loud funny in parts and the characters are great. The intro is brilliant! Comedic gold. The first 2 acts are five stars with some brilliant puzzles (which knock on the 4th wall which I love). The final act is more like an interactive story where you have very few choices and doesn't build on what was encountered earlier in the game (I would have liked to have seen more about platypus'). The choices the characters make seem poorly thought out and are hard to understand. The last act really lets it down in my opinion as the bulk of the game is so strong. I came across a couple of bugs with the mini-games (that Gog didn't do a great job supporting - just pointed me at a walkthrough??) but there are options to skip if the mini-game doesn't load (this option was in German when I played in English - another small bug). It's still very playable, funny and overall - very enjoyable. If you have played the first in the series, playing this is a no-brainer. Moving on to Deponia 3 now!

Further Down That Rabbit Hole

This continues almost right after the previous game, and almost everything from there applies here. New areas to explore, which are beautiful, and the characters and puzzles are still irritating. It's nice to finally be able to give Goal some screen time.... conscious screen time, anyway, and I like that she wants to stomp on Rufus's egotistical face, but it's also directly against what you, the player, will have to do, so that's irritating, too. The writing also had moments where it was strangely incoherent, too; I'm used to translations having a little wiggle room, but there were times when I had NO idea what they were trying to say. By the end, it all did start to grow on my a little; not sure if that's improvement or Stockholm Syndrome.

Extremely fun and enjoyable

I absolutely and utterly loved it. I finished Deponia 1 just a few days ago and wasn't really impressed but I wanted to keep going because the ending of the story was very interesting. Well Deponia 2 is on a totally another level. If you weren’t that excited from Deponia 1 like me, just give this one a chance. I laughed so much at the dialogs. The humor (in the english translation) is on par with The Curse of the Monkey Island, which is my all-time favorite. I don't know if Rufu's character grew on me from the first installment but on Deponia 2 the story, the humor and his character it just clicks. Everything works. The riddles where also very imaginative. If I had to compare it with Deponia 1, I would say the difficulty is much easier. That’s probably why I enjoyed the game so much. The story has flow. You keep getting missions, but you have more than enough hints to get a vague idea of where on the Deponia world you need to be or who to speak with in order to solve them. My statistics says I played 13 hours in total and I believe I used the help of walkthroughs about three times. And when I did that, I didn’t feel like a complete idiot like “why on earth would you solve it this way”. Every quiz solution is imaginative, funny and adjusted to Rufu’s personality. The game just keeps you engaged. Maybe after 4 hours of continuous play, where you are a little tired and get a rather difficult quiz you might try to check on the solution on the internet. I really can’t find any negatives. This game is true gem, every adventure fan should play. Maybe the only thing I didn’t like (again) was the music. A little boring, I might even say irritating. I actually went to the game settings to set the music volume really low since it was bothering so much. Other than that, I had so much fun playing this one. I finished it in 3 days during the winter holidays because it was just too inhumane to stop having this much fun. Totally recommended even if you haven’t played Deponia

better then the first!!!!

I love this game. Every once in a while a sequel of a game is made and is better then the first. The first one was pretty sweet as it is. I don't think any point and click cartoon comedy game even comes close to the awesomeness to Deponia 2. Will be very hard to beat this game in its humor and style for future games trying to compete.

An excellent choice

This game has hardly any flaws. It is a classic adventure game, but with the suffering ironed out. You won't get stuck on an impossible puzzle, and there is no need for pixel hunting. The sounds and the the graphics are really nice, and they suit the ambient of the game. The second part of this episode, because this is the second part of the saga, feels a little rushed out, without the nice polished feeling of the overall game, but it could just be me. Also, I expected in 2013 that the scene changes would happen in an instant, but actually you have to wait for maybe a second. Not really annoying, and you can get used to it, but still. It also has a little german style, if you know what I mean. That certain east Berlin deep artsy emotions and naivity with friendliness type. I really liked that. It is homorous, but the story moments are not always upbeat. It is more suited to a relaxed evening, than co-op playing on a party. But it is the perfect game to play with your girlfriend/boyfriend :) Also, you have an official walkthrough on youtube, so if all else fails and you get stuck, or just want to check out this game, or the first part, you can be done that easily. Can't wait for the third part
