A JRPGey relative of State of Decay
You can find a fault in everything this game has: graphics, art, writing, animations, sfx, UI (God, the UI) and so on, but everything works together and if you like zombies and JRPGs, you're gonna love this. The trailer and images are representative of the game. Despite being completely different from Xbox's State of Decay, it reminds me of it for this feeling of trying to survive another day while dealing with basics like food and shelter. The emphasis is on fighting and management, with dashes of story. The depth of everything is beyond mobile, more console-like. Story is having conversations and making choices, completing a quest or not. It's superficial, simple and PG-rated, but adds immersion to the game. The game advances (saves) in full days. After the first easy days, a typical session (in-game day) lasts 1 to 2 hours. A "full" play lasts several "weeks", depending on the ending. The key to enjoy this game is to like some management (you won't last without management) and JRPG combat. Combat is about endurance: winning 20+ fights to fully explore an area without depleting your resources is tricky. If you are about to get wiped out, you can call it quits just before the next fight starts and return to camp, ending the day. Next day starts by dealing with friendly travelers and camp invasions (if any) then heal a bit. Some advice: use the mouse (the controller UI is usable but broken); always leave guards; "meeting" someone means going alone; get the best melee weapon you can; don't browse the Stats section (it has spoilers!). Characters in camp can earn experience through Jobs and create needed resources. Some, like ammo, can be found outside, but the superior ammo you want must be crafted. Medical and Engineering Supplies are used to power combat skills. Syringes can only be used during combat. You should have some survivors specialize in one job and seldom leave camp. Don't max combat skills -it's not worth it. Two or three levels should be enough.
