Amazing and atmospheric P&C game

I had a copy of this game as a kid gifted by a relative, and was playing it on heavily abused Pentium III PC. We had this PC in my village house, which was in the area of constant power surges when there is bad weather. One of my most vivid teenage memories (was 15 or 16) is playing this game on that old PC during the night of terrible storm where I decided to stay for a weekend alone. I was playing it around 2am while the most awful stormy wind was howling outside. I remember in game going to 3rd floor of the hotel (in game), in the side area romiging, then going back towards the doors, when doors opened on their own; lighting hit outside and power went out (in real life). I crapped my pants. Slept with a knife under a pillow that night. Was afraid to go to the bathroom for a piss. 10/10

I like it but

it has so many rooms where I have no idea what to do or if I'm doing anything correctly. I do like the fact that the game doesn't hold your hand but I have no idea if I'm even advancing in the game haha. I've played for a few hours and I still haven't explored all the areas yet. While I do recomment the game, it's not for those who get frustrated easily.

Good for the time

Starting it up I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation for the game and must have taken quite some effort to put together, I played the game for an hour or two, so this is a first impression review more than anything. For me the horror aspect wasn't working Maybe I wasn't in the perfect mood but what should have been the creepy noises felt mostly out of place with the exception of a few. the ui is also a bit clunky for my liking, this all is more to do with the age though more than anything else. I will be returning to the game tonight to see if i get along any better with it. but the long story short its a classic well presented game, but dated in all departments.

Not aged well

Graphics are basic as you would aspect. Controls are somewhat hit and miss as you spend a lot of time looking for the correct hotspot. Story is slow and uninteresting. Relies too heavily on sound effects which tell you very little.

Not Windoze 10

Game starts, but critical features ("ativity bar" top of screen is not visible, etc..) don't work. Load/Save game opens a pop-up window, with the ability to navigate folders and save files, but part of the window is off-screen, and is not useable. Might be fun if you still have an ancient PC running WIndoze 95, or something, but a complete waste of money for me.
