Great graphics, no depth

The game looks nice, it's beautiful when looking at it. But once you get passed that inital 'wow' of seeing the city the first time the facade starts to become apparent for how little depth it has. It's an RPG game without consequence, real choice, or ability to make significant changes to character/faction/story development. The building blocks are there - there are gangs, there are character backgrounds, etc. But in 99% of the time - They do nothing. I only noticed 2 quests in about 30 hours of a corpo background that were even slightly different than street kid. There are dialogue options - but generally, nothing of use/interest. You can clear out entire packs of one of the gangs and have their leader call you and offer a job. Why they didnt expand on the gangs throughout the city - Letting you pick one to help maybe take over more territory, go to war with another, etc, I don't quite understand. The main story line is fairly short in comparison to other games, filled with about 10x that in just bloat quests - Fetch an item or Kill everyone. It gets really repetitive really quickly. ' The most exciting part of the game is the first like hour where the quests are developed and there seems to be a good foundation. But after you get about 20 minutes into act 2 it becomes more of a slog and you can just feel how barebones most of the game is. How lazy it was put together. How uninspired the team was behind doing quests outside of maybe 5-10 quests outside of the main storyline. Driving is about on par with "Cruisin' USA" from the n64. Music is fantastic though.

Cheap and shallow experience

I only played CP2077 in may 2021, at this point most game-breaking bugs were polished out. CP2077 is a PC/console adaptation of the pen and paper game titled CP2020, which I actually played as a teenage boy. I'll make several comparisons to the tabletop, because CP 2077 is advertised as an RPG and makes claims to the same IP. The first noticeable thing in character creation and the prologue is the absence of character classes, which is also reflected by the combat-oriented trailers and screenshots. The original tabletop had 9 character classes, two of which were heavily combat-oriented. Well in CP 2077 most of what you do is combat. Speaking of combat it's your usual dopamine-driven looter shooter deal. Drops are RNG-generated, they're carbon copies of a few models of clothing and armament. Enemies, even common street thugs are bullet sponges. Gunplay is about dumping dozens of rounds into your enemies and spamming healing items. Tactics are of limited use, because they offer no means to quickly end an otherwise protracted gunfight. Inventory and the upgrade system are just bad. First of all, all items equipped count towards defense. You'll probably end up looking like a hobo or a pimp, because that dirty tracksuit or sleeveless that a thug dropped is better than your leather jacket and denims. The upgrade system is the same as in AC: Origins and Odyssey. Here's your item, you can slightly increase its stats by throwing money at it, or using up ressources and doing it yourself. Meanwhile there are countless shooters that allow deep customization of your firearms with parts and accessories. Character development is a hybrid of classic XP and passive leveling. You level your skills and get skill points to spend wherever you want (you can spend points into hacking by leveling up your pistol skill), which is a lazy cop-out, since most of your XP will come from kills. You can also add a point into a stat and a skill with each level of experience. Cheap and lazy.

Bad first impression

1) The performance issues are killing my experience. Tried changing the settings for hours but the impact on framerate is very inconsistent. 2) V's movement feels very bad. It's hard to explain, but it feels clumsy. 3) The game gave me dizziness at first, but increasing the FOV helped. 4) The UI screens are so ugly.

The same devs as The Witcher 3?

How did this happen. Put aside the bugs. Put aside the performance problems. The gameplay is so poor, upgrades are useless and not interesting to obtain... Driving is hell, musics are suprisingly forgetable. I waited for this game for so long, I was promised an RPG and I got this...

Disappointment of the Decade

Title says it all, this isn't about the bugs nor the performance issues. The game content itself is the problem. In general it feels like a lot of content has been cut out. Overpromise but underdeliver. Hype should not be blamed, devs have repeatedly advertise the game with so many elaborate features and mechanics through interviews, trailers etc but we only see like 20% of it in game. -Main story, pretty much just average, feels more like Johnny's story rather than the player's -Endings are ok, bittersweet tone but nothing spectacular -Side quests like gigs, secondary quests, radiant events are a huge disappointment. They are mainly to farm exp, cred, money, gear mats etc. They lack a soul, theres no good storytelling -The promise of branching storyline, decisions that matter, actions and consequences are unfullfiled. Stories and quests are more or less standalone with poor storytelling. They don't interact or effect each other, the main story or even the world. So called decisions are only for the 7 endings which mind you is basically loading a save and choosing the other option. -Lots of missed opportunities. An example being the different factions of the Cyberpunk world. They can be better used by having them as factions that players must choose to align with that effects the main story, but we get none of that here. Life paths are pointless as they have no importance except some dialogue and a short quest. -Romance is a hit or miss. I liked Panam's, others were meh. Devs tried to be inclusive but it backfired and we get only 1 romance option per gender/sexuality. -Characters and companions are forgettable and a disappointment, lacks the quality and storytelling you see in games like Witcher 3, Dragon Age Origins or Baldur's Gate. -Too much focus on looter shooter GTA open world style gameplay, sacrificed all other RPG aspects. Cyberpunk 2077 really feels like they had big dreams but overestimated their abilities, ran out of budget and cut 80% of the game out.
