A Pleasant Surprise.

I did not buy into the hype leading up to this game's release. I expected the terrible game everyone makes it out to be. But one thing I've learned over the years is the sheep are always wrong, so the more sheep I read 'bahh'-ing about how bad Cyberpunk 2077, the more curious I became. It has bugs. But I've never played a game that didn't. Maybe these bugs are slightly more numerous in Cyberpunk, but not as bad as people make them out to be. They have not broken my immersion in the city or the story, or deterred my desire to continue to progress in the game. The combat feels great. Driving physics and controls are fine. I would agree with some comments about the key mapping being funky, particularly crouch and skip being the same button. I thought I would hate the city and the story and Keanu Reeves, but it's actually really good once you settle into a life choice that fits your personality. Been an emotional roller coaster that keeps me invested and coming back, with plenty of engaging side missions as well. Many hours of content to enjoy, probably 50-100 hours, which is what you want from these RPGs. I like the variety of weapons, upgrades, buffs, and the player upgrade system. Leaves lots of room for different styles of play and customization. Though I do find the process of equipping them, etc. (The UI, I guess) to be a bit clunky to work with. I found disappointing the fact I never feel any real sense of choice. Many conversations boil down to one correct choice. I don't feel like I have as much control over pissing off or coercing NPCs through dialogue--like my 'V' is uniquely me. I am a fixed character 'V' with a fixed attitude and a fixed destiny. Thankfully, the character is dynamic enough to overlook this shallowness of choice. Overall I am enjoying my time in Night City, and happy with my purchase. Patches are incoming and I have faith CD Projekt Red will tie up the loose ends.

rushed release with all types of bugs,

and yet its still the best game i ever played. if you expect GTA 2077 you'll be disappointed, if you liked previous games from CDPR you'll love it. Night City is truly incredible, we've not seen a city of such scale, detail and density in a game before, and we're not gonna see one any time soon, its really jawdropping and it makes you feel tiny. the same detail is found inside of various buildings and is also true for character models, who not only have high quality textures, but also facial/body animations, you can tell people's emotions just by looking at their face and body language, on top of that you have quality lightening (and ray tracing !) for the first time in my life i feel like i'm playing a next gen game. gunplay has quality sound, animations and feels good, when compared to melee combat in Witcher games CDPR did a much job on their first try, which is rather impressive. driving is mixed bag, bikes feel good, but cars are worse, main issue is overly sensitive controls, its near impossible to make small adjustments while driving which makes it feel "jerky" the game allows you multiple playstyles like melee, hacking, and gun oriented, the way you earn perk points by using all different skills rewards you for mixing things up which feels rewarding, and being able to assign the perk point to any skill tree only furthers that, i love the design, my only issue would be that CDPR could've gotten little more creative with the skill trees, seeing more skills rather than stat increases would be welcome. the story is good, the campaing takes around 25 hours, and there's a lot of quality sidecontent that'll extend that to 50 - 100+ hours depending on whether you focus on major sidequests or want to clear all map markers if i could give it 4.5 stars i would, because there are lot of bugs, but at the same its an amazing game that will only get better with time, i'm sure lot of people chimping out right now will come back to it in couple of months.

Defender Of The Crown

This game is not rated bad because it is a bad game, but because people had way too high expectations. It´s like CP2077 is a snowman and almost everyone wanted to have a nice wellness day in the sauna with it. Never able to get close to the expectations. Other companies release games and people are like "I am so proud to pay 60€ for buggy bullshit to be a beta tester for this unprofessional, on customers spitting company!". Here they get a pretty stable game (for me at least) with some not gamebreaking bugs from a caring company and this is not exceptable!?!? I will hold back but you can ask Johnny Silverhand what I would like to say here. ;) Right now the strongest points of the game are the atmosphere and the story, but those are exceptional imo. The characters are so good. I instantly bonded with all the important and even less important ones. In many games I forget the names of chars while playing because I don´t care. Not here! I will remember the chars and story for a long time! I felt angry, sad, happy, excited... The storytelling is so well done. I like the ego-perspective and that everything is told in-game, almost without cut-scenes. Very immersive experience, feeling more "in character". The game plays and feels like a hybrid between Fallout, Borderlands and GTA. The RPG part is ok for now. Choices matter and alter the story. All skills are useful. There is hacking, stealth, melee fighting, shooting of course... You can play as you like. The open-world aspect could be better but I´m sure it will get better over time. No more space to explain here... So my point? Already amazing but give it some time. Let updates and DLC´s come! It has great potential and could become the "Defender Of The Crown" for the best RPG after The Witcher 3. I´m not disappointed and I´m glad that I payed full price to support CDPR. For me it is the best game I played in 2020. Get it if you like a dark and rough cyberpunk atmosphere with a well told story. See you in Night City!
