Crysis®

This game still looks great, in 2022! (Except textures that are very low resolution at some places, which is a bit odd.) Sneaking around in the dense djungles is amazing, and the physics in this game is way better than most newer games - very cool! You can even demolish/level the smaller houses, knocking down walls and pillars and having it all come down with individual physics on all parts! Game is great and tense at its best moments, but mostly it's just over the top action and not much story. As others in here I also had some crashes, maybe 5-10 during my playthrough. Worst place I had to replay 5 minutes or so... Still a cool game though, buy it on 75% sale or so, definitely worth it!

I'm quite late to the party, but as the remaster seems to be a mixed bag I thought I should get the original while I still can. And almost 15 years after release, it holds up really well. Granted, I haven't played many AAA games from the last, let's say decade, so I'm not that used to "modern" graphics, though Crysis still looks fantastic, especially in 4K. The first half is really, really good, with a semi-open world and a lot of freedom in how a situation is approached. There is also some variation in missions and an overall great atmosphere. The second half is, well, average. Spoilers, I guess: It's Aliens. And it becomes a pretty mediocre shooter with little variation. It's not bad, but so much worse than what came before. By the way, this game works with DXVK on Windows, wich gave me a nice FPS boost.

Still one of the best FP shooters with great graphics. Runs perfect with Xbox controller!

Apparently this game will not work well on some Windows 10 machines so I decided to play it on a later generation Windows 7 PC equipped with an i7-970 6 core CPU, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD and upgraded with an RTX 2060 GPU. Windows 10 will not install on most X58 chipset PCs anyways. GOG allows you to download a DRM free version of the game and install it on many older systems. Crysis is one of those games which happens to benefit the most from this functionality. It was just the right mix of "not too old, not too recent and powerful enough" combination of hardware and OS to get fantastic results. PCs of that era (2011-2016) can now be purchased used for pennies these days. The game will play at more than 60 fps with all the audio and graphics settings set to maximum quality. A far better experience than when I first played the game back in 2008. If you can then do show this amazing game to younger PC gamers so they can see with their own eyes how Crysis altered the PC market when it came out and why for nearly 3 years all computer dealers were being asked all day long "but can it run Crysis ?" !! IMHO, the original version is better than the remastered one because the physics are far more realistic and the graphics are not so dated when you can use the highest possible settings. Play at 1080p for the best experience. Lower resolutions will provide less quality and higher resolutions aren't well supported. UPDATE : A new C1launcher has been included (forcefully) with this game it now it won't work with Windows 7. IMHO this is a bad decision not to give the choice. Fortunately for me, I purchased Crysis and Crysis Warhead at the same time and backed up both to BD-R M-Disc when I did. Not every buyer has this luck.
