CrossCode is all about how it plays! Take the best out of two popular genres, find a good balance between them and make a great game. That’s what CrossCode does. You get the puzzles of Zelda-esque dungeons and are rewarded with the great variety of equipment you know and love from RPGs. During the fast-paced battles you will use the tools you find on your journey to reveal and exploit the enemies' weaknesses and at the same time will be able to choose equipment and skills for a more in-depth approach in fighting your enemies.
What's included in the full version:
Dive into a massive adventure with a playtime of around 30-80 hours
Explore a large world with 7 unique areas and hidden secrets all over the place
Fight over 120 enemy types including 30+ boss fights
Enter 7 expansive dungeons, all with with unique themes and puzzle mechanics
Master up to 100 combat arts and even more passive skills
Solve over 100 quests with a great variety of tasks and unique challenges
If anyone give this game a few minute, you gonna love this game. Fortunately, I heard this game from a Ytber, I already have 100+ hour on this game and it is the best RPG for me. Give it a try ! It's gonna make you sitting in front of monitor for hours before you even notice
CrossCode, falls short due to its generic storyline and excessive quirkiness. The game's characters and plot seem all too familiar, lacking the freshness and innovation that one would expect from an indie title. The excessive quirkiness, while perhaps intended to add charm, instead becomes a distraction, diluting the overall gaming experience."
Moreover, the game's mechanics, while serviceable, do little to distinguish CrossCode from its peers. The combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving elements, key components of any RPG, feel generic and uninspired. The game's quirky elements, instead of adding depth, seem to be a superficial layer that doesn't contribute to a substantial gaming experience. CrossCode, despite its potential, fails to deliver a unique and engaging JRPG experience
Really glad I bought this game, I'm about 5 hours in and it has the type of game play I really enjoy, I like games where I feel like I'm constantly progressing without having to grind, it reminds me a bit of Xenoblad Chronicles, especially with the way quests work. It's also a bit of a collectathon, which I also enjoy. The combat is fun, I really get put off by RPGs that have turn based fighting so the action element really drew me in. There is a lot of content in this game, would highly recommend.
This game takes place within an imaginary MMO complete with the random people queuing up to talk to NPCs. This fact alone removes all stakes from the game. While the game is functionally competent, everything you're tasked with doing is as interesting as listening to two people talk about playing an online videogame. Your party members will even talk to you about how they should be studying instead of playing the game. Isn't the point of a game to pretend you're not playing a game?
The game does have an interesting mechanic that involves traversing a mutli-level map to find hidden items, however as the whole game is overhead I could rarely ever tell when two things were the same height and was constantly falling or running into walls.
