Engage in turn-based battles on a 3D quarter view stage, strategically utilizing the terrain and character orientation. With a vast array of characters, each with their own classes, experience the freedom of character development through class changes, skill trees, and faith selection. Unleash the potential of over 30 classes, from sturdy knights to skilled archers, and strengthen weapons and armor using powerful runestones.


Shape the fate of two nations in Cross Tails, where captivating storytelling meets intense tactical combat!

Features

  • Class Changes: Total of 24 types of classes + fixed class for every main character. Each character can have a main job and a sub class.
  • Skill Tree: All the 24 jobs have a skill tree where skills can be learned or strengthened.
  • Passive Equipment: Passive skills learned in the skill tree can be equipped. The available equippable slots increase as characters increase their level.
  • Equipment Upgrade: Weapons and armor can be upgraded by attaching rune stones that grant magic effects.
  • Faith: Different faiths, from the deity of war to the deity of business, can be selected to add bonus values to stats or special abilities.

Cross Tails is a solid strategy title with strong mechanics and plenty of user choice when it comes to unit customisation along with pleasant visuals and music. Despite the small map sizes, the enemy units provide a good challenge that even some lifelong SRPG developers struggle to accomplish. It’s a ‘thumbs up’ from me.

Cross Tails is one of KEMCO's more unique releases in quite some time. Although the story never surprises, the gameplay mechanics of this isometric, tactical JRPG certainly do. Turn-based combat fans shouldn't let this one slip past without serious consideration.

Cats and Dogs go to War!

So, this game came out a while ago on consoles and is basically a love letter to Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre. I kid you not. If you played those game you will instantly recognize all the mechanics. Leveling classes, then switching them to unlock more advanced ones. Equipping your squad and micromanaging them to create the best set up to steam roll the opposition. Though the devs did introduce some quality of life improvements so to avoid annoying grind moments. Though you will most likely restart a few missions to set up your squad with some better enemy counters. You enjoyment from the game really depends on if you are into the Japanese style tactical strategies like the mentioned Final Fantasy Tactics. If you are, than this game will give you at least 20 hours for each campaign (unless you are some tactical genius ;)).

Half-baked game

Everything in the game feels cheap: the story is really cheap, the class system is pretty classic but IMO worse than its predecessors (class levels unlock new classes, but since you buy skills with cash, you can "master" a class in which you're level 1), the difficulty is all over the place... Last but not least, I usually play this genre to feel clever (cleverer than a few lines of codes anyway, let's not get carried away), but in this game, I feel pretty stupid. Eg: even if I know there is a trap somewhere, I don't have skills to disarm it, the enemies don't trigger it and it may be impossible to bypass. So you walk on it. And feel dumb. So yeah, you should avoid the game. And it's a genre with so many gems that it should be too hard to find a better game to play instead.
