I played this game a long time ago and it was nice to play it again

Easily one of the easiest games to fall back into, with a progression and tutorial system that feels like you are earining each promotion and learning at a pace that allows for you to grasp each concept before layering on the next. Now that the game is set-up to run well in the GOG Galaxy without work arounds to make it happen, it is truly worth checking out whether or not you've played it before!

While the graphics are 1998 primitive and it is a simple city building game, I get nostaligic for its simplicity from time to time. Works well and it is easy to self-teach yourself game strategy. But the Caesar Heaven Caesar 3 web site is still up after all these years to help you if you need it!

As I understand this, GOG is doing all they can to make older games work on new systems. Sometimes this does not work for everybody: Sometimes the game may feel broken, crash or not start at all. Luckily there is a solution! If you have already bought this game, there is no need to ask for a refund. There are Open-Source projects that help Caesar III really shine: For those looking for OG experience, with quality-of-life improvements there is julius. For those wanting to experience what Caesar III could feel like if it was to be developed these days, try augustus. You can obtain them by searching for caesar III julius / augustus online. These two mods use the original game files you've obtained through GOG and make it work nice with your machine. You can even play Caesar in your browser if you want! All the best and enjoy!
