Good return to form
I guess the fact that I was hooked immediately and completed the first episode in one sitting should speak to the game's quality. The story, or mystery, seems well put together so far, and the classic deadpan humor is still there. One of the classic problems with the old pointyclickers is the confusing and obscure solutions you had to come up with to progress. There's definitely some borderline examples in this game, and thankfully the hint system does a great job moving you along. In the end I probably used the hint system three times, and I wasn't stuck for too long on anything. Graphics are amazing. The character models would certainly have melded better with the drawn backgrounds if they weren't 3d, but they ended up looking better than I feared. All in all great presentation. Lipsynch was clearly not in the budget here, but it's only really a glaring issue in one particular scene with a rather extreme close-up shot. I completed the game in around 5-6 hours, so it's a lengthy adventure for sure (assuming they cut the game at around halftime). The 5/5 score is basically justified in that what I was looking for in a Broken Sword-game has been met in this release. You obviously need to have an interest in more story-focused games, this game does nothing revolutionary in that regard and is basically the return to form that the Kickstarter-backers were hoping for.
