Ant farm as combat

I almost play this game every day. It's not really on my list of the greatest games ever told. It's just that I go into Blitz mode and play army ant farm with all of the units. Like another review, I find the artificial intelligence and the path taking absolutely ridiculous (most of the time). So, I relieve some of the pressures of the day and go Blitz. I personally find attempts at strategy to be a complete waste of time, as the units will not reward you for your effort. There are some excellent aspects of Blitzkrieg if one takes into consideration the entire package as a whole. Beautifully designed units springs to mind. A plethora of DLC is another positive aspect. Even though I only rate Blitzkrieg Anthology at 3, it's still a good game, I'm entirely satisfied with the purchase.

Terrible

Worst WW2 rts I've ever played. Terrible cheap AI, awful level design each mission plays the exact same go conquer point A which has 50,000 infantry, 30 tanks, 20 bofors, 10 antitank guns and a few howitzers for good measures not to mention how godly fast, accurate, and resusable the enemy air support is while your air support is worthless outside a few rare instances. These enemy units all have a sight range of fifty miles and 9 times out of 10 they kill your unit with ease while your best units have to wear into them as much as possible with overt force to accomplish anything. Having fun yet? Well now go to Point B where you do the same thing, then Point C. Now do that again for seventy more missions and you have Blitzkrieg a terrible game made obsolete when things like Company of Heroes came into being. Oh yeah your units have THE WORST pathfinding I have ever seen, outside of micromanaging every single little action you watch as your army of apparently all blind tank/vehicle drivers run around in circles to navigate a few feet away from them oh even better when the enemy is attacking them and instead of backpedaling like logic and survival instinct dictates they make sure to do a huge uturn no matter how much you try to make them do otherwise to give the enemy a good shot at a one kill. Terrible TERRIBLE Rts, play anything else.

all Blitzkrieg's up to blitz2

I bought this when it originally came out and still after many hours of enjoyment and 100s of single player map downloads I'm getting ready to play rolling thunder yet again......It has always been my goto game. I didn't care for blitz 2. An easy cheat I stumbled upon,,,,take a squad of soldiers, separate them take one man to safety. send the rest out as cannon fodder, when all men killed replenish your held back soldier after command to reform squad...voila...free squads of endless soldiers/cannon fodder......A TRULY WONDERFUL AND FULFILLING GEM OF A GAME

This game is atrocious.

For a game that emphasizes careful positioning of units and timing, it sure doesn't do itself any favors by having the worst path-finding and AI ever created. Units will move to the general vicinity of the are you click (after spending a few minutes turning in circles) and sometimes tanks will reverse straight towards the enemy instead of turning around first. Infantry will crawl back and forth aimlessly while being ripped apart by machine guns. It is basically impossible to coordinate infantry and tanks as the whole formation becomes a wriggling mess. There are also some severe balance issues. A single AA gun will down hordes of planes, rendering bombers, fighters and aerial recon useless. Artillery is capable of destroying enemy units in seconds, both yours and the enemies, rendering infantry and tanks moot. The game also does not have any way to tell where enemies shooting you from off screen are. There should at least be a vague indication of where they are shooting from, given that guns make noise, but apparently all your soldiers are deaf as well as dumb. Only get this game if you nostalgic for the days when RTS games controlled like slugs and the graphics are an indecipherable mush of similar colors. Avoid if you want something that responds to your commands and allows you to actually implement your strategies.

Good in theory let down in practice

In theory this should be a great WW2 game. There's no messy base or army building. The whole thing favours combined arms. Unfortunately its failing are small but crippling. Firstly the unit pathfinding is eye bleedingly frustrating. It isn't a question of units getting in each others way, elements within a unit block each other. Infantry units in particular are like trying to herd cats. Secondly the game is massively fussy about what constitutes 'clicking on a unit' which just adds to the aggravation. I want to like this game and to be able to recommend it. I can't do either, give it a miss.
