Great fun, so far.

It's a fun game, very reminiscent of games such as Baldur's Gate, Tides of Numenera, etc. The graphics are nice, and the worldbuilding seems well on track. There's lots of small mechanics to add a bit of flavour to everything you can encounter, from managing your party and gaining feats from not switching around too much, to brewing and drying potions and powders, and more! I played this while it was in development, and what I was expecting was maybe missing features, or bugs but other than a few crashes during zone transitions (which are quite long) there isn't an actual finished story as of yet, unfortunately. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it progresses, I just wish I'd known it was *that* early in development.

Better than Pillars

I've been buying games on GOG for nearly 15 years, but this is the first time I've decided to leave a review. This game is great, and it deserves more recognition. I've played many isometric RPG's, but this is the first that comes close to repeating the experience of the original Baldur's Gate. It's a lot less linear than Pillars of Eternity and doesn't have the stupid time limits of the Pathfinder games. As I have no interest in religion, real or fictional, I was very pleased that the plot initially revolved around the player regaining his heritage and settling a dispute between two rivaling cities. Only later does it devolve into the metaphysical mumbo jumbo that's so common in fantasy games. The game is rather short, I finished it in under 30 hours. A quick travel option that allows returning to the quest giver after completing a quest helps to speed things up. The combat is very similar to BG1, but skill progression is quick and it doesn't take long till you can roast your enemies with powerful fireballs. The party members sometimes contribute to the dialogue, but mostly they stay silent after joining your party. That's the way I like it. I want to explore the world and solve quests, not talk about the feelings of my party members.

Vraiment chouette !

J'ai terminé le jeu d'une traite et c'est un très bon jeu. Il est beaucoup plus complexe qu'il n'y paraît, tout en gardant une tonalité "old-school". Ils ont amélioré le système des vieux RPG de bien des manières. Et il est sorti en plusieurs langues dès le départ (hourra). J'ai joué à arcanum, aux fallouts, vampires mascarade, planescape torment, les baldur, les divine divinity, les diablos, les witchers, les pathfinders, les mass effects, tyranny,etc Bref, je joue depuis un baille et celui-ci me rappelle vraiment arcunum et plasnescape torment. Si vous aimes les RPG et le tour à tour, il est vraiment pour vous. Alors oui, il est comme les vieux jeux, il faut prendre parfois des notes, souvent faire toute une map, et aller aux 4 coins cardinaux pour trouver le "bon" chemin, mais ça m'a rappelé de bons souvenirs :D ps : jouer un mage est totalement faisable dès le début, j'ai fait une nécro, alors que dans d'autres jeux, c'était souvent galère. Et n'hésitez pas à revenir sur un perso même quand la quête est finie, il y a souvent une suite, donc le monde paraît vivant. re ps : j'espère que ce sera une trilogie et que l'on pourra suivre avec ses persos et la sauvegarde de base. In English : really good game, play it ;)

A love letter to CRPGs with some flaws

Love the game even with some occasional bugs. Uses rules reminiscent of third edition D&D where every class can invest points in specific skills on level up. Some interesting skills allow your characters more utility then expected. For example Fighters can provide unique dialog options or break locks if you invest in the right skills. World building is strong and the character dialog although not on the level of PoE, it is reminiscent of BG1. It's definitely made me chuckle a few times with some of the zany dialog options. One thing I can't stress enough is the music is awesome and very catchy. Found myself humming tunes from the game after play sessions. My first playthrough has been with a Druid. Immediately liked the spells even at low levels being able to hatch a killer scorpion or heal my allies. I love the new shape shifting spells added by the DLC. The Lizard Man Chieftain form at level 14 is my favourite, great design! One piece of advice if you want to shape shift though, there is currently a glitch where if you save while shape shifted. When you next load the save, you will look normal but have the shape shifted stats. Does not let you revert to human form proper so can never cast spells. So yeah always return to human form before saving the game.

Fairly Classic

So far reasonably solid BG/PoE style RPG. Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about either.
