Biing!: Sex, Intrigue and Scalpels

I'm proud to present you Biing! on GoG. I want to thank all the people who helped me, especially Dieter (Golden Games) for all required permissions etc. If you have any questions about the game, feel free to contact me. I am planning also the disk release, but I am into trouble with the password protection here. The CD version had a patched exe on an extra disk, which I used for this release here. (v 1.44) I could create a version with all graphics from the first disk game, but with gameplay for the CD version. Biing was the best and most ironical economical simulation I ever played, with superb graphics for this time, and I loved it (And I still do!) A few years ago, I coded a simple tool, which allowed me to edit the game. This lead me into creating a website around the Biing! series incl. forum and community. I am actually working on a Sequel: Biiing! (Biing 3) which is heavily under development. I hope you like this release on GoG and that you enjoy the really hard gameplay. HISTORY Back in 1995 this classic game was on I think 13 floppy disks and had quite some bugs. A more stable CD ROM version later was launched. A sequel of BIING! followed, managing a holiday resort. This second part is also included. Unfortunately both of the developers, Holger Gehrmann & Olaf Patzenhauer passed away too early. R.I.P.! A Fanproject under the leadership of Devilmarkus is currently developing an adequate third part, called BIIING! Good luck! GAMEPLAY Managing a hospital is with staff that seems to be highly retarded, sex-obsessed doctors, simple-minded nurses with big boobs and patients who are more interested in striptease from nurses instead of an adequate treatment. For a dental care tools like Butcher knife (set of), tooth picker and designer clay (bag) are used. A designer mallet can be used either for unaesthetic teeth or for narcosis. Interior for a cosy waiting room can be drinks cartons (empty) to take a seat and a Babel fish machine for the welfare. Obtaining patients can be with newspaper ads, renting thugs who beat up random people on the streets or even a Grand Prix with ambulances racing to an injured person. GRAPHIC DESIGN The unforgettable graphic design is sexist, offensive and with dark humour and was delivered by Ogan & Celal Kandemiroglu. These guys are also immortalised on several other games from the 1990s. CONCLUSION As an innocent decent teenager I was playing this game when my life suddenly became out of control. Haha Joking! This is one of the very few games which is still fascinating despite some weaknesses, for instance human resources could have a clearer presentation. Also the level of difficulty is very high, if you have no money by midnight the game is over immediately. If you have too many bad reviews (how could such a thing happen?!) it is very hard to gain more patients and to survive financially. I was waiting for years for this to be released on GOG. Thanks!

The game itself makes a lot of fun... it's hard, once you are out of money the game ends and a several things are just by chance (Do I get a lot of patients today? do they all need a dentist?). But the jokes are great. One very important thing: there is a bug - appears suddenly, not repairable - the game chrashes instantly and (worst thing) once it appeared it appears alsways to the same time in the game if your last save is too close to it (so the savegame is not playable anymore) only way to handle it is to make a backup save at the end of each day (have two of them: switching each evening). This way you could backup to the day before or even more (if the patient who causes the issue is already in your clinic)

I am so thrilled about this game. Back in the 90´s I got my hands on one of the first copies. I still remember my first weekend as a teen locked in with my friends all day and night and trying to survive the first few days as a hospital manager. The hardest part was that you have to do all things simultaneously. Check whether new patients arrived, admit them, hire new staff, buy all the small and large things needed in a hospital, schedule staff, check whether your doctors chose the right treatment, build rooms, enjoy some of the treatmenst and so on until you reached the end of day when the bill for the rent is charged and booom ... game over. You forgot to check your income. Behind the beautiful hand drawn graphics there lies this other world of hard business. You have to develop a plan for earning enough money to survive while there are lots of things going on and your competitors are also out there making it hard, to get your hands on good employees while sending their mobsters to beat up your doctors and nurses which then miss their shifts which leads to patients not being treated and thus dying which is followed by bad press which makes it hard to get new personel. Talking of personel, one fun fact is, that there are more staff than patients in the game. Still you have to split your ressources wisely and focus on some of the different medicinal branches, otherwise the the rent and the salaries will hit and KO you very quickly at the end of the day. To sum it up, there is no difficulty setting. If you are the kind of player who wants to be taken by the hand and guided throgh the game then this game might frustrate you. But if you enjoy figuring out things by trial and error in several increments then this game is the ultimate experience for you. If you still feel, it´s too hard, you can always join the welcoming community which is very helpful from my experience and you can even bump into the current developer from time to time.
