Historyline forever!

Old fart as i am like most of the posters, i played all of them. Truly a question of flavor, but Historyline was absolutely my favorite due to re-growing resources, in comparison the Battle Isle parts had not. But i will play all of them anyway! ;) A bit sad, that HL is not available in german, because the story screens were .. well.. entertaining as war history can be, but at least very informative. Few words about Incubation, i didn´t get the connection to it back those days. But will try again. Technically a big thanks to GOG! There are many HL / BI binaries spread all over the net, but beside one it was impossible to get them running on Win 7. But it was HL within an Amiga emulation, which wasn't very casual to install. And gfx was somewhat squeezed and the game tended to crash. The GOG box runs perfectly. I bought, tried and played Syndicate too (try it!). Good work guys, will buy more. I so wish remakes of all these games! My actual hope is XCOM: Enemy Unknown, developers promise to be close to the original gameplay. If yes - high 5!

Incubation alone worth the price

Well im very happy to see one of my favourite and not so famous or acclaimed pc games being released on GOG. Actually im talking about Incubation, so called "battle isle phase 4" if i remember right. Tbh i dont remember battle isle previous chapters, im sure from the screens ive played at least one of them, but cant tell anything about actually really passed too much time. Talking about incubation and the expansion, i can tell without any doubt its one of the best turn based tactical game ever released on pc. Every level is challenging, usually little, and you will need to think a lot before doing a single move, the gameplay is jagged alliance style as idea, old school turn based with action points to spend in moving, attacking or defending. The basics of the game are very easy to get, but the result is very appealing and challenging, its a bit like playing chess, you will find yourself thinking 5 mins to start a specific manouver with your soliders. The weapons / skillup is logic and you will end to need specific weapons to counter different situations, as expected. you will need some practice to be very good at this game, defo is not for casual gamers, anwyay it will be not hard for the average GOG player (assuming old games are usually harder then recent ones). The expansion i remember it was tuned to a higher difficulty level, which was a bit too high maybe in some specific level but overall it was very nice too, even if maybe the expansion didnt give the same satisfaction and fun then the original game had to offer. At the end im very happy to see this gem here on GOG, too bad personally i dont have enough time to play /replay most of the great games recently released here, anyway i got a long wishlist that include also this release. Enjoy ;)

Incubation: The real to buy this!

The Battle Isle games were never something I could get into as I was growing up and I've found the trip back there to be much as I remembered it. There is probably something there, strategy-wise, for someone dying for a turn-based strategy fix but it can be had elsewhere and better. The interface is archaic and the story hackneyed. Incubation on the other-hand is delightful. It offers turn-based squad level tactical strategy and for those with sufficient retinal fortitude, there is plenty of fun to be had. Between managing your equipment time, units and bayoneting the Scay'ger your quickly lose track of time. Again, Incubation is the whole reason to purchase this package; a gem that never got the attention it deserved at the time.

Insta buy - For Incubation!

Yes, as soon as I've seen there had been Incubation and its expansion included in the package, I didn't hesitate for a minute. I remember the very days when this game came out, I didn't really get to play it then but I was dreaming about it! First chance I finally got to play this brilliant jewel of a game was a few years later and it still was an amazing turn-based strategy/RPG, and that remains true to this date. When I bought it and installed it, I immediately lost myself in the atmosphere and couldn't stop for three hours... It's just as good as it was back then, this is a classic and one game you definitely don't want to miss on!

Would be perfect

Firstly, I haven't played much BI1 or 3. BI1 is just a step too far into clunky for me. Incubation is fun for a while, but does get very difficult. Good atmosphere, though. I bought this for BI2, a game I loved but never completed. Now I remember why. The music, controls, units and missions are all excellent. Unfortunately, some missions have a turn limit. But the game doesn't tell you in the briefing, and doesn't give you any visible indicator. You can play a mission for hours, then suddenly get a "Game over" message. You can't go back to a recent save as it is the same game, you won't have had enough turns left. If GOG had added an option to remove turn limits the game would have been perfect, and highly recommended. With the turn limits it is just too frustrating.
