An absolute classic

First I beat this game on Steam, then Rocksteady removed the GFWL DRM breaking all savegames in the process, so I did the only reasonable thing, play it again. Then, out of the blue, it showed up on GoG and was an insta buy for me, and here I am, playing it yet again. Is really THAT good. It's true that after playing Arkham City, going back to Asylum feels weird, since you are missing so many moves, but I think both games complement each other perfectly. You have the more open world like experience in AC, where here is more like solving a maze, and while the gameplay in AC is supperior (I actually got all achievments in that game, all secrets, all challenges and everything), the story in Asylum is definitely supperior, and combined with the amazing atomsphere and the recording tapes, this is one of those games you just can't bring yourself to stop playing. A must play for sure.

Still a solid piece of gameplay

It was a cool return, not perfect, as the game has aged a bit, but it's still a solid game, making very good use of Batman's villains gallery and a great start to a new interpretation of the Dark Knight's universe. It has a great combat system, very good stealth sections, and engaging collectibles (which not only add a lot to the story but also provide a side-story conclusion to the Riddler and Arkham Ghost storylines). The graphics and animations in the cutscenes may be outdated, the fights with mutants often look similar, and the final fight is so-so, but that doesn't detract from the quality of this game.

A landmark game

Even after all these years, Arkham Asylum stands as strong as when it first came out. The free-flow combat, the atmosphere, the way the world and the characters themselves are fleshed out, all the easter eggs and references to comics and the mythos. PhysX support may be iffy nowadays and the various gameplay and original ideas systems were further improved in later games, but Arkham Asylum is a gem any way you look at it

Batman at his best.

If you're a Batman fan, this is amust play game. Has everything the comics shine, great voice acting and the gamepaly is brilliant.

what a great batman game

in my opinion this is the best batman game out of the series great story and a worthy addition to anyone's collection with any luck gog will get batman origins black gate to complete the set
