Be The Batman
You're Batman and something goes wrong at Arkham Asylum while you're bringing the Joker in. His capture was a trap and you need to stop his plan. Pros: + Excellent controls + Combat and stealth are well designed and enjoyable + Good story (until the end) + Dark atmosphere + Content is not overly adult + Game saves often Cons: - Combat and stealth parts become repetitive - Ending feels out of place You feel like you're actually Batman and not just playing his character. The content is aimed at teenagers. The game is easy to pick up and put down. Finally, the ending could have been better. The game is great! Many other reviews talk about how great this game is. ----- The reason I wrote this review is state how it ran for me in Linux using Wine. OS: Linux Mint 22.1 "Xia" Wine: 9.0 Processor: AMD Drivers: Proprietary Dependencies: .NET 3.5, Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, PhysX .NET 3.5 was installed using: winetricks dotnet35. DirectX from online files, and VC++ and PhysX were installed using the programs in the "GOG Games\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist" folder. The problems that I had were minor. The icon/launcher that wine added didn't work, so I launched the game from using a terminal/script (using: cd ".wine/drive_c/GOG GamesBatman Arkham Asylum GOTY/Binaries/"; wine BmLauncher.exe). Also, the game stopped being shown using the correct resolution and needed to be set manually using the resolution settings in the game's launcher menu. Lastly, a handful of times the d-pad and analogue stick functionalities (movement and inventory selection) were randomly swapped. (Might have been related to power settings for screen going blank because this didn't happen after changing them.) To fix this (while playing), I alternated the D-input mode switch on the back of the controller (Logitech F310 Gamepad). ----- If you want to backup your save files (in Linux or Windows), they're in "Documents/Square Enix/Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY".

Fun but...
Overall the game is fun to play but it has some mechanical problems. In certain segments early in the game the frame rate drops to under 5 fps. The extreme slo-mo is annoying. In the Scarecrow segments and the Joker boss fight the keyboard controls for movement don't work as they do in the rest of the game. The mouse doesn't change the camera angle and movement is limited to N, S, E, W, more like a platform game. That means that you can't run in a circle or move diagonally . I had to switch to a controller for the Joker battle since the controller allows the analogue movement the rest of the game supports. In the Scarecrow segments you never know for sure how the screen is oriented. You have to die several times in order to learn which way the keys move.

Przyjemna gra pomimo swoich lat
Zagrałem w tą część zgodnie z chronologią. Najpierw zagrałem w Origin, który fajnie mnie wprowadził w tą serię. Szkoda że nie ma polskiej wersji językowej ale udało mi się znaleźć w sieci spolszczenie. Fajny system walki przedewszystkim prostrzy niż w Origin który bazował na tym systemie. Grafika jak na swój wiek przyjemna dla oka. Trochę krótka bo tylko mi zajęło 10h ale czego można się spodziewać skoro w grze akcja dzieje się w ciągu jednej nocy.
