One of the Best Storytelling in Games
One of the best storytelling technique in modern games. Colourful aesthetics and creative world. Like other games of this genre, I suck at the combat.

Satisfying, Well-Rounded Experience
Bastion is a fairly simple game made on a budget, but it never feels cheap or half-hearted. The stand-out feature of the game is the way the story is told- though you control The Kid, the mute hero of the game, everything that happens is through the lens of a narrator, telling a story to an (at first) unknown listener. Every time you accomplish a goal, explore an area, find an item or do anything else of note, the narrator comments on it, and bit by bit you gain more information on the world, characters, technology and lore of Bastion. The rough, husky voice is a little over-the-top at first, but soon becomes a familiar companion on your journey, and rewards you for your efforts with new clues, sometimes even foreshadowing events that have yet to occur. It's a novel approach, and the game is worth playing for that experience alone. The rest of the game is pretty solid too. There's a wide variety of upgradeable weapons and passive bonuses you can use in any combination you wish, special moves, and a variety of modifiers you can use to add more challenge to the game- which is quite easy without them, but fairly hard with all of them activated. Almost every area introduces a new weapon, enemy or game mechanic, keeping things fresh all the way to the end. The story is decent if not spectacular, and the New Game Plus mode is a fun way to add some replay value. The soundtrack and narration are both great, and really help immerse you in the game. There are lots of extra things to do, but never so many that it feels like filler or busywork, and most of them give you useful items as a reward. The only downsides are that some of the weapons are just better than others, regardless of upgrades, and the SD-style characters look a little too cartoonish and cute for the grim, post-apocalyptic feel of the story. Many of the enemies are also very similar to each other. But overall, this game does almost everything right and is a joy to play. Highly recommended.

Excellent Story Driven Adventure Game
-June 2016- (Bought Steam Version) Cash Value (Full Price or Sale): Pay full price. I would continue to recommend this game up to about $35 for enthusiasts of the genre, though personally I value the experience closer to $25. That means I would pay 67% more for this game than the current list price of $15.00. Time commitment: I recommend giving yourself up to three hours to start, but no less than one. After starting you can take it in increments as short as 15 minutes as long as you don't stay away for more than a week. This is not a long game--it took me about 9 hours with some breaks--but it is very narrative driven; you should let yourself get invested in the story before taking your first break. After that it's ok to play 1 level at a time. Gameplay: It's an isometric action-adventure game set to narration. In each level you either follow a very linear path and fight waves of baddies or search out a few branches in search of the next item and stumble into pockets of baddies. You can adjust your weapon loadout before selecting a level, and occasionally during certain levels. You do all this while listening to the narrator tell you about what you are doing on screen. It's really quite enjoyable. Controls: (I played on an Xbox 360 controller) Controls in the game are simple to learn and extremely tight. At no point did I feel like the game missed an input or recognized it too slow. As long as I didn't lock myself out with a cooldown, or misstep into a baddie's interrupt, everything happened instantly and in perfect time. We're approaching Bloody Trap Land levels of responsiveness to the Xbox 360 controller here! Performance: No bugs encountered. Graphics and Audio: Very pretty game with a nice, understated soundtrack and excellent voice acting. Overall, if you’ve heard good things about this title, then you heard right! Buy this game when you have time to set aside to starting it. It’s not a question of if you should play this game, but when.

Fast, addictive and interesting.
This game was some sort of surprise for me, on first look it seems to be H&S with some innovation environment. Luckily it also have storyline, sub quest and sets untypical weapons - fast, addictive and interesting.

Beautiful game
I've heard a lot of great things about Bastion but I didn't really know much about it before playing it. After completing it I can say it is a great game. The gameplay was fun but not innovating but thats okay because what it lacks in gameplay it makes up for it with the interesting story,stunning graphics and the beautiful narration. 7/10
