A detailed, and spellbinding, story is woven through the very fabric of Barrow Hill, offering possible explanations, further mysteries and a chance to get beneath the surface of archaeology like no other game before it.
Dig deeper: Use real archaeological techniques, and practice, to unearth forgotten artefacts and delve into the Celtic legends which haunt the green lanes of the hill. Cornwall boasts itself as the home of many sorcerers, ancient kings and mythological characters. From the piskie folk of the hedgerows and clifftops to the beasts of Bodmin Moor. Point and click horror game with creepy sound design and great atmosphere that doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares. I like the celtic lore and the live action/real photo style npcs that you talk to throughout the game. However, I had to rely on a guide to finish the game since there are hundreds of things to click and the game area is rather open from the get go so it is easy to get stuck in an area without knowing what to do. Some areas are pretty dark and very difficult to navigate since the game doesn't show you all the hotspots so its easy to miss them. There were times that I had no idea what I should be looking for. There are a ton of readings so taking notes or screenshots might be necessary at times.
If you like first person point and clicks, don't pass this up. Had a few sticking points, but the atmosphere was top notch. This game has been living rent free in my mind ever since I first played it a couple of years back.
I have to admit - never finished this game. Too hard for me.
But it's really nice atmospheric game. I also like the art.
I don't know how to rate it's quality of puzzles... they are... ok?
