Quite promising
I was a bit hesitant to get this game right at the beginning of early access. However, I dediced to purchase it because it's Baldur's Gate, it's D&D 5th edition, and it's Larian Studios. After 80+ hours, I have no regrets. The first playthrough of Chapter 1 took maybe 15 hours, but I knew I wanted to try different characters and builds to see how well the 5th edition ruleset works in a computer game. And it does work (obviously there's some missing or partially done mechanics at this point). What has surprised me the most is the amount of non-essential content in form of sidequests or simply just out-of-the-way areas you can stumble upon. I've mostly avoided reading spoilers and guides, and just keep finding new content that I never saw in earlier runs. I'm also quite impressed by the amount of different approaches and solutions to quests/situations. Things that I don't like? Yeah, there are some. - Divinity-like focus on elemental surfaces and an abundance of special arrowheads and bombs on many enemies. Both of these are great in moderation, but right now there's way too many exploding barrels and special throwable items everywhere. - Some seemingly unnecessary changes from tabletop 5th edition rules. I would prefer if Larian followed D&D rules more strictly and then, during early access, changed some things that don't result in fun gameplay. Currently there are changes in both game mechanics and monster stats that I just don't see the reason for.

Early Access shows real promis
I like the game. The story intrigues me and I want to dive into it. The world is beautiful. However, just to clear, this feel much (MUCH) more like Divinity Original Sin 3 than Baldur's Gate 3.
