Baldurs Gate 2 EE Patch 2.0
With the new patch 2.0 is BG 1 EE and BG 2 EE the better option for all fans! Great work from beamdog, buy the game and see yourself. The Mother of all with great new features and other stuff is back in 2016.

Hmm...
I don't dislike this game because of Beamdog or whatever other reviewers are mad about. I simply think it is too big for it's own good. I played a significant amount of this game, around 25-30 hours I believe and the amount of side quests and things you can do outside of the main story were so overwhelming. This might sound like a good thing, but, everything you accomplish kind of feels meaningless as a result. I'm the kind of person who tends to enjoy playing a significant amount of side quests and engaging in side activities in a game, but I don't know, this game is just too big, so big that it feels like none of your choices really added up to anything or that no matter how many quests you do everything's irrelevant. It placed this pervasive sense in me like there's no point to continuing and because of that I didn't continue. The characters aren't really that interesting either and they don't really embody their moral standing very well, Viconia and Edwin aren't really that evil when it comes to you or your party and it's kind of weird. I don't dislike this game, maybe I'll finish it one day and change my mind about it but up to the point I played which was a significant amount of the way through Shadow of Amn, I did not enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed other CRPGs like Planescape or DOS2.

Native linux port!
Pros: Confirmed to run in Windows and Linux (doesn't use Wine and has working multiplayer!) Widescreen support New content and classes Cons: Wont work with BG Tutu or Trilogy The price For me multiplayer was a must. If you can play without it, get the originals. It's cheaper, plus more mods :D

The classic RPG gets a facelift
Baldur's Gate 2 is a masterpiece and a relic of the golden age of PC RPG games, and one of the best sequels ever made. A must play for any RPG fan, and this is the best possible version. The main reason for favouring this version over the original is the myriad of bug fixes, UI and graphical enhancements Beamdog have added ensuring the rose-tinted memory of the game remains intact in modern gaming. Many die-hard fans will recommend the original version with mods as an alternative, but the mods never reach the depth that Beamdog's efforts do, and can be a pain to get running correctly. Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition takes away the headaches or just getting the game to play nicely, and still allows for more interesting mods and modding should you wish it. Their additional characters and quests aren't really up to standard of the original content and can be ignored completely, but they are a fun distraction for the curious.
