Description
You're in command as your AH-64D Apache Longbow combat helicopter lifts off from its forward base. You're going into combat against the best the enemy can offer, but you've got the most advanced fighting helicopter in the world at your fingertips, packed with a devastating array of lethal weapons and state-of-the art technology.

You're ready to rock and roll but so is the enemy! They're waiting for you with combat helicopters of their own, backed up by radar-guided anti-aircraft guns and missiles and fixed wing aircraft. It's not going to be a cakewalk but you and your Apache are up to the challenge. Across four theaters of war-- Fort Hood where you train and then in war zones in Cyprus, Yemen, and Korea--you will fly the most fearsome helicopter that has ever been designed against enemies on land, sea, and air.

Apache Longbow took flying simulators to the next level. The developers constructed the flight model with fanatical attention to detail, going so far as to bring in Apache pilots to fly the in-game chopper and offer their feedback on how real the experience felt. Every flight simulator enthusiast will be pleased with the complexity and realism this game has to offer. Meanwhile, to make the game more accessible there is also an arcade mode where the flight mechanics aren't nearly as realistic, but there's still tons of fun to be had. So whichever you are - a slow-and-low hardcore sim fan or someone who just likes to fly about and blow things up - this game has something for you.

Not supported by all DOSBox versions

The game's CD check is not patched out, and fails on more recent DOSBox installations (I'm on r3833). I'll try a couple of forks and report back if I find a good combination, but just be warned that (a) GOG didn't actually remove all of the DRM from this one, (b) most of the user reports are from older DOSBox versions (or perhaps running native/FreeDOS), and (c) GOG's technical support is not helpful for this game.

Enemy Engaged is better

If you have a good computer, go for Enemy Engaged here on GOG instead and install the EECH mods. If your computer really suck go for this one. Enemy Engaged wins with its incredible realistic dynamic campaign

Another pile of old shit peddled by GOG

This should have remained as "abandonware", if indeed it even got as far as that. When, at the end of your first succesful mission, it is failed due to an AI controlled Apache coming up behind you, where you cannot see it in order to take evasive action, and then ramming straight into you whilst attempting a tricky landing on a moving helo-carrier...... then it's uninstall immediately time. It is also another terrible GOG port. They've done another poor job of getting an old 90's game to run here in the 2020's - though it does at least run. With this being made by "Digital Integration Design" and it using the same engine, I was expecting this to be an Apache equivalent of the excellent "Tornado". I notice GOG haven't given us that instead of this turd! I ended up seriously disappointed. Thanks for fooling me to waste even more good money GOG!
