Not horror

This is not a horror game. It also has no survival elements in it so I don't what that top review is even on about. It's an adventure game where you play a 2 year old. The environments are imaginitve but the gameplay gets repetitive fast, the controls are start to annoy you. You can only fall and start crawling so many times before you say enough of that now. The dragging controls are also awkward, they don't work the way you expect them half the time so you just end up flailing you mouse. It's a good thing this game only last 2 hours because it wears out it's welcome fast. One thing I am sure about is I will never play it again because it has 0 replay value. The story is incredibly predictiable so much so that I guessed the ending 15 minutes in yet the game still makes a point about how much of a twist this is. Got to be honest, that was kind of pathetic. But it's still a nice quick experience. I wouldn't (and didn't) pay full price for it. It's not worth $17 no way.

Stunning, terrifying and unique

My first impression of the game was that of bemusement. I thought the idea of playing a game from the point of view of a toddler a refreshing and unique game mechanic. They did an excellent job of portraying the world from 2 ft high and lower and all the familiar stuff of grown up land becomes giant, strange, and difficult to maneuver. That impression slowly changed as the story began to unfold via childish drawings dropped in the dark corners only a little one could reach. Those drawings told another story, a story of horror and mystery that had me in its grip. I am not ashamed to admit that a few screams passed my lips, making my family jump and holler what was going on. There are moments of pure terror in the game, a tribute to story telling ability of the game with hardly any dialogue or set up. You are just dropped into this clumsy environment and left to it. I wont spoil the game but only say there is one heart wrenching moment that had me in tears. Brilliant game, totally novel and unique gameplay and utterly horrifying story. well done... well done.

Motion sickness. EXTREME

The game is the second game ever, that caused a motion sickness for me (first was Alone in the dark 5), and I can even read books and play handhelds in trains and cars. It was really an EXTREME motion sickness, as I realized later due to continious random head wobbling of the child, even when not moving at all. Also the game is much too dark, I had to increase the gamma highly over the advised value to see anything in some areas. Also V-synch somehow did not work at all. As much I liked the demo of the game (no motion sickness observed), as much I was diasspointed by the final product. From my point of view, there was no "horror gaming" at all, but an artistically visualized psychological terror story. Also it must be mentioned, that the game contains the "Prologue DLC" which can only be started from the "chapter selection" menue, if you KNOW, that it is already integrated in the main game (now you know it).

Like my good friends at GOG write,

this game is far too short, far too short because it is so good and far too short for such a price. It was a wonderful little game which was very interesting at times. I enjoyed the crawling and hugging function, very innovative and cute. The perspective was certainly interesting. I found myself carefrully crawling through the game, afraid of the monster, up until it showed up. After that I mostly powered through the levels and it only got me scared once or twice, but the enviroments are eerie and haunting. They're very creative and beautiful to discover. I will probably replay it once or twice. The ending was great, great but sad. Very sad, and unfortunately a reality for many.

Really, really good and...tragic

Yes, it´s very short, but for this price it´s ok. Therefore you get a little creepy and atmospheric gem. There are also some jumpscares, but that´s not the main element. The essence of this masterpiece is the brilliant atmosphere that made my skin crawl. Every second of the game. For lovers of the Amnesia and Penumbria games. An for fans of the movie "The Babadook".
