Alien Breed 2: Assault

For a feebie, it's ok. It is more of the same as Alien Breed: Impact with slight additions like some fixed camera sections, some sections that make use of vertical levels. While playing with keyboard + mouse is doable, it is easier using a controller. There's an added survival mode with 3 maps but I only played the story mode. Also didn't test multiplayer. By this point, I hope that in the next part they mix things up instead of the usual "go to x to push a button, oh noes! It broke, fix it by pressing another button at y" formula. I did enjoy that boss fight in the train though.

I like these kind of games, it's Dead Space rip-off but I had genuine fun with it.

It's quite an old school experience. If you like Dead Space and Aliens this should feel right at home. It's got atmosphere, and yes it's a budget title, I don't know why other reviewers complain so much about the controls, I think controls are fine. Game's quite simple in terms of mechanics. I like it a lot. If you play on Veteran you're getting a run and gun experience, if you decide to switch to Elite difficulty then you get a survival/horror experience. Naturally, the game isn't really scary as much as at times tense on Elite because you need to manage your resources if you want upgrades for your weapons. The game is fun, atmospheric, and a great budget alternative to Dead Space and Aliens fans.

My problem with Alien Breed 2: Assault is that there wasn't many changes to the game, I dont know if the studio had rush it or something but I was expecting different alien (the normal ones not the bosses), as if the ones that came to the leopold were the scouting party (considering that klein was leading them) and the ones on the ghost ship were the main defence meaning they were different or stronger somehow. The logs which I had enjoyed reading in the first game were 90% the same in the second except for the ones related to the alien bosses, plus Klein's datalogs (and the one from his wife). Gameplay wise, it was nice, they added the changes in camera were it was still third person but not an overview from the top, more close to the characters. Overall three stars due to not many changes on the monsters and datalogs.
