Worth pushing through
Yes, this game has moments of unnecessary confusion and some tiresome sections, but for me I found it to be worth playing through for two reasons. First, the interest of learning about Miami's early history. Second, the surprisingly poignant, twisty plot. Since the game is relatively short, these advantages outweighed its shortcomings for me.

OK Story But Nice Nod to Miami History
The story is okay, nothing special. Your ambitious and hopeful character ends up running around on errands for his bosses who never quite appreciate him the way he would want them to. The thing I liked about it though is how it introduced characters of real people who played a very big part in the development of Miami in the 1920s and onwards. It's always nice to learn a little something new, especially when you weren't expecting it!

Thème original. Réalisation imparfaite.
J'étais très impatient de jouer à cette nouvelle aventure de Wadget Eyes. Le thème est ici très original pour un point'n click car on incarne... un agent immobilier ! Très doué mais bien trop impatient et ambitieux, son objectif est de se faire un nom à Miami. Il travaillera pour le célèbre Georges Merrick et son projet "Coral Gables". Car "A Golden Wake" se base sur des éléments historiques réels. Le contexte des années 20, la bulle immobilière, les terribles cyclones, et surtout des personnages réels. Notre personnage, Alfie Banks, travaillera donc en tant que vendeur d'exception, mais passera également par la case "mafia". Les énigmes sont également originales, car la majeure partie de celles-ci consistent à faire des persuasions par le dialogue, ou des ventes en fonction d'indices. Mais cela reste très facile. Trop facile. Cependant, malgré ses qualités, je trouve que le jeu n'est pas à la hauteur des autres productions de Wadget. La qualité d'écriture n'est pas aussi bonne que les Blackwell. Les énigmes et le gameplay sont basiques, contrairement à un Resonance. Le scénario n'est pas aussi bon qu'un Gemini Rue. Je regrette aussi que le jeu ne nous laisse pas assez le choix. Par moments, il y a quelques petits choix mais sans aucun réel impact (à part l'obtention d'un succès). Dommage, j'aurais aimé pouvoir contrôler le destin d'Alfie Banks.

Great adventure game
I've only found about 20 games in my life to be interesting enough to finish in a sitting or 3. and a Golden Wake is one of them! Not sure how it got up there with The Last of Us, Life is Strange, The Secret of Monkey Island, Farcry 2 and most of the Telltale games. But, it did! Great little game!

A colorful, but casual adventure
+ Beautiful pixel art + Competent voice acting + Fantastic soundtrack well matching the time period + Historical characters - Like the American positivism, the storyline is shallow, straightforward and uninteresting - Virtually no problems, the brain rests, everything is obvious and easy - Zero ability to influence anything - no decision matters, there is no possibility to fail, and only one ending - The minigames are silly and simplistic
