Yes, if anything is created inside /Applications besides app bundles then that is a bug. We'll take a look at it.

Also, it seems both Galaxy Client and game need to be directly in /Applications, I get an error if they are moved into a subfolder, even it they are both in the same subfolder
For the Beta purposes you can't. But we're designing the system so you should be able to do that in the future.

torp: Speaking of which, why is an installer required at all? Not quite the Mac way, and this is not something like VMWare which may be justified...
Because the installer provides the game and the launcher in one package (both are separate bundles).
