Yes, you read right, Lords of the Realms 1 has been updated. However, we know you guys like positive surprises so we'll hold off on writing what the update was until you had a chance to run the new installer :)

(Trust me, you'll like it :D )

mqstout: Just tell us. You tease.
Alright, alright :)

Lords of the Realms 1 now features the Windows CD version of the game where you can choose to play on a map of England or Germany :)

SirEyeball: having updated how do I choose the german map?
When you launch the game you get a little menu with three choices:

Conquer England and Wales
Conquer Germany
Quit

Hope that helps :)

SirEyeball: I don't get that menu ? when is it supposed to be?
Ah, run the installer file again please and add a checkmark to the CD version of LOTR 1. Apparently, it's set to be off by default.

Darucas: The CD version doesn't work for me. I'm using Windows 8.1 and the shortcut seems blank after installation, pointing to a 0Kb "choice.exe" file. I've tried reinstalling several times though. I managed to make it install fine by using Windows 7 compatibility on the installer, and the shortcut launches the choice screen. However, the game itself does not work, it just seems to hang for two seconds (nothing is shown, just desktop), then nothing, the processus disappears. I've downloaded the installer twice, it seems complete (and installs normally on another PC with Windows 7).
Best course of action here would be to write to our Support department and send us your DxDiag along with your email so we can get a better look at what's going on. Thanks :)

'choice.exe' needs to start another process, namely LORDSGER.EXE or LORDSUK.EXE, and it needs administrative privileges to do so. Either run choice.exe as admin, or try to launch one of these two files directly (for German and UK map respectively).

Darucas: Thanks for the advice! Sadly though, it doesn't work. I've tried launching every .exe file in Admin mode or compatibility options (95, 98, XP, 7), and it just, well, does nothing. If I launch choice.exe, the first time it says the application didn't exit correctly. Also, when installing without compatibility mode, it seems the game get some files installed in the Lords of the Realms 1 folder, in addition to the "CD" folder. That's where I get a blank shortcut and choice.exe. Hmm... Support department, here am I!
It seems there was some mistake in installation code (Win8 only). We'll get it fixed shortly.
All shortcuts are empty files, did you try to launch .exe from 'Lords of the Realm I (CD)' folder?

Trimlin: First - Yay! Thank you for releasing this.

Lords 1 (CD) freezes at random intervals, music stops, mouse locks up, forced to kill task.
I haven't noticed a pattern, happens on any screen. DOS version works perfectly.
Also, I have a CD version I had purchased a long time ago. Works nearly identical to the
version posted on GOG but no crash.
Please write to Support and make sure you send in your DxDiag. The more DxDiag files we get the better we can pinpoint any potential problems and solve issues. Thanks :)
