Some of you must remember the crazy thread by Sephirath about creating a GOG song based on AC/DC's T.N.T. This inspired our first holiday contest for our great and creative community: write your own lyrics to a GOG holiday carol! You can record yourself performing the carol if you feel like it, but that's not required to enter the contest.

We won't be limiting you with how long the carol should be or which, if any, carol it will be based on - that's totally up to you and your creative minds. But there are a few rules:
Only one entry per GOG member is allowed.
If you're basing your carol off a popular tune, please indicate what tune you've been inspired by so we don't have to guess.
If you're submitting a video or recording of your entry, please don't attach it to the email. Our mailbox refuses emails larger than 3 megs, so it will surely bounce. Send us a link to somewhere you've posted it online, please.
You're giving GOG rights to repost your entry if we decide it's one of our potential winners.
To claim your prize, we need a physical address to mail the goodies to. If you're not a resident of this planet, or are a non-corporeal being, you should probably think twice about entering.
The contest starts now and will end on Sunday, December 5 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
Your entry should be sent to contest@gog.com before the contest ends. Of course, if you feel like sharing your efforts with your fellow Goggers, feel free, but keep in mind that we're only judging the entries that land in our inbox.
If you have any questions that simply must be addressed, you can always reach us at users@gog.com.

On Monday, December 6, we will post the best carols sent to us, and for the next four days you, the GOG community, will vote for the best GOG holiday carol - each user will be eligible to vote once a day. At the end of the voting period, we'll award prizes to the first, second, and third most popular carols.

Now, what are the prizes, you ask?
The first place winner will receive: 10 games of their choice from GOG, a GOG laptop skin and the awesome and cult GOG's announcement game box with stickers, buttons and--finally-- a holiday card signed by the whole GOG team.
Second place will be awarded with 5 games of the winners choice from GOG, and GOG's announcement game box
Third place will receive: 3 games and his very own GOG launch game box.
Sounds cool? Yeah, we thought so.

Ok, there's no time to waste - feel the GOG holiday spirit and write us a carol!

Here, to help get your juices started, is a sample lyric from your very own GOG team:

Gamers We Have Heard on High
(To the tune of "Angels We Have Heard on High")
Gamers we have heard on high
Tell us to go out and buy
Asking what new bargain brings
Gee Oh Gee on floating wings
Geeeeeeeee
Ohhhhhhhhhh
Geeeeeeeee--you're great!
Old Skool Gaming will soon commence
Geeeeeeeee
Ohhhhhhhhhh
Geeeeeeeee--it's fate!
Old Skool Gaming will soon commence

Hey, we never claimed to be songwriters. Let's hope your submissions are better!

Catshade: I thought you guys were against regional restrictions. :(
Hey, we didn't say noncorporeals couldn't enter, just that they might want to think twice. ;)

Arteveld: Anyone can enlighten me, and tell me what the hell a "cult GOG's announcement game box with stickers" is? :)
Back when GOG launched, we had a game box that we gave out as press kits to all the news media. I'll go get one and post a picture in a few moments.
I'll get this posted in the body of the announcement shortly (silly me forgot to get that done already) but here's my rapidly 'shooped image with the loot you can win. Starting with the laptop skin in the upper right, (which is a mockup, as we'd need to hear from the winner what laptop you have, exactly. Or iPad or iPhone or iDon'tKnowWhat), we see a GOG announcement box, and a stack of the same

Making your way around clockwise, you'll find a GOG sticker, some (tiny) GOG buttons, more stickers, some sample postcards (not signed by the whole team, alas) and, well, I can't really show you the games that you'd pick if you won, but imagine them there in the empty space under the laptop skin mockup.

Any questions about this?

Aliasalpha: Whats the esrb like GLs on the box?
It appears to say "Rated GL for Game Lovers only."

Navagon: Edit: Waitwaitwaitwaitasecond, just there! Ten games of their choice? Does that include a certain pre-order of DRM-free AAAness?
Well, the *preorder* is free. But if you mean, "does it inlclude a copy of TW2 gratis," then sadly, no. It does not.

Didn't mean to get your hopes up there, sorry.

Lenriak: :( Its things like this that make me wish I wasn't a crap writer
Don't worry, Lenriak! We have more great things up our sleeves. Indeed, it's surprising we can fit in here, given how full our sleeves are with...things. Keep tuned on GOG for more mind-bogglingly great community events this month.
