SimonG: The (arguably) best weekly newspaper in Germany has made a little special about computer games in their recent issue.

Two of the articles are available online.

http://www.zeit.de/2012/50/Computerspiele-Medium-Zukunft

http://www.zeit.de/2012/50/Computerspiele-Entwickler-Kunst

Both are excellent reads and very interesting even for the nerds of us. Unsurprisingly, the focus is a bit on German games and developers (Spec Ops: The Line, Trauma, Deponia, Edna) .

But it brings up some very interesting points in general. Eg, that there are very different approaches and origins to computer gaming. Or (although this is only briefly mentioned) that computer gaming as the primary recreative medium has also influenced who we approach other areas in life.

I don't know how well google translate or babelfish will bring it into other languages, but at the very least it is a great read to have while eating your sauerkraut.

(In the printed issue, there is also a third article, which is mainly about Dishonoured. As I have not yet played the game, I will skip it. So I don't know if buying the (e-)paper is worth it for this article.
As a Thief fan, I have to say Dishonored is definitely worth a playthrough. The stealth in Dishonored is a bit tougher than in Thief, if you don't use a specific power :D.

SimonG: I'm a Thief fan AND a Arkane Studios fan! This game is soooo going on my Christmas list. But I am deeply cautious of spoilers, therefore I will only read it once I've beaten the game.
Think twice before you talk with Granny Rags is all I have to say :D
