All I know is that when the "Darth Vader in training" character first took his mask off, the movie just became "Spaceballs 2: The Not Made By Mel Brooks Sequel" for me :)

Also, there were way too many cringe-inducing moments in the movie for me ("I can teach you sooo much!" and Rey's "I know the Force" moment where she looked like she was downloading info from the force a la The Matrix..) but at least you can see that JJ Abrams did what he could to remove most of the excess fat from the universe to try and deliver a movie that was somewhat similar to the very first Star Wars movie.

Tallima: All of that said, perhaps she knows things she has forgotten and that's what give her the "downloading the Force a la The Matrix" effect.
Yeah but she was in the middle of a sword fight and she just kind of took a break from it. Seriously, WHO DOES THAT?!?! I mean they were that thing that is done in sword fight movies where they are in a standstill where each person pushes their sword against the other...

Also, I STILL lol @ Kylo Ren trying to teach someone anything when he could barely get anything out of the girl when he had her captive.

Also, what kind of a Sith doesn't use the choke hold or Force lightning? Did they teach this kid via a pamphlet as to how to be a Sith 101?

Lolling: I'm happy that i'm not the only one who consider Kylo Ren a good character with great potential (and,if Disney do a good job in the next movies, I think he can even be one of the best character in the Star Wars universe)

Lifthrasil: Yes. The character has potential. The actor, however, was thoroughly disappointing. Flat acting and not much charisma. When he took off the mask it was a kind of anti-climactic moment. "Really? THAT's supposed to be the scary antagonist?" They really could have done much better in casting that role.

But I did enjoy the rest of the movie
"Please put the mask back ON!" was my thought at that scene...

Vainamoinen: When the Sloth emperor says he'd like to conclude Kylo's training, it's heavily implied that he wants to kill him.
avatar
Breja: Really? I didn't see it as that at all. And if he wanted him dead why order the general to save him from the exploding planet-base? Just leave him there.
Good point. I think the training being concluded means something else entirely as you don't generally save someone from an exploding planet-sized base only to kill them later.

bad_fur_day1: On a side note, The Revenant came out. Now that looks to be a serious thriller if you want to be all serious about the whole thing.
Maybe it'll be Leo's chance for Oscar glory.... Or not XD.

I've been humming and hawwing about going to see the Big Short; love Lewis' writing and Pitt did a fantastic job with Jonah Hill in Moneyball. However, I'm not seeing how this particular cast will translate the source material to film, particularly with Bale as Burry and Carell as a character based on Eisman, and that's making me apprehensive about seeing it.

tinyE: Blues are allowed to go out and see movies?

I thought you were all chained in a basement next to your terminals and forced to piss in a bucket.
No... Only Judas... and that's of his own volition, so I'm told; I think he's into the whole chain thing :D

tinyE: In fairness Rey hasn't been put in a bikini and chained up yet.
From all your talk of chains, it seems you're one of those people too ;)
