godunow: This is most appealing space sim for me. Small doses - FTL like progress - easy to learn (still - I'm terrible at it) .

Edit: Downlads have _rc1 in their name - will they be substituted for full release or is it safe to download as rc and release are same and only filename changes ?
that's full release :)

phaolo: Looks great, but is it great?
So, I played EVERSPACE back when it first came to GOG and I stopped for one reason only – holding out for 1.0. So I'm excited for this release!

The build back then was fairly barebones, with only one ship and none of the story elements. But what was there – the core gameplay loop – was superbly fun. The flying is smooth, responsive, and pleasant, making something as basic as movement simply a joy.
There is also an element of risk and survival to it all. The roguelite elements complement the intensity of each fight, they force you to pick your battles, and then follow you for every battered, broken cruise towards fleeting safety. Going roguelite isn't always the right choice, but I think EVERSPACE is all the better for it.

Gameplay wise, to me the keywords are: fun, intense, arcadey.

IronArcturus: Sounds interesting! Does it have multiple star systems or just one?
So, there are large contained areas that you jump between. Kind of like in FTL. I don't remember how the game frames this in the context of SPAAAACE. Could be planets, could be star systems.

You explore, clear each one, and move on when you're ready. Each area is very visually distinct, which you can tell even from the screenshots.

Sculpy: I wasted a lot of hard earned credits upgrading the map info perk because it permanently says on the UI "Next upgrade: Reveal threat level info on nodes" or similar... well, no such info has yet to reveal itself after 4 upgrades. Pah.
Yeah, I was confused there as well. That ability will be unlocked with the perk's next level, but it takes several upgrades to "level up" some perks. You'll see your progress towards the next level on the perk's description, there's also information on exactly how much you need to spend to fully level up the perk.
