Considering that the rudeness and abuse is coming from the pro-listers, I'm not really sure what you're getting at.

Also, the thread isn't what I would personally consider to be civil. It's a bunch of people that areharassing people that may or may not have done anything wrong with little or no evidence to support the allegations.

Granted I've barely been to Italy at all, but I can't imagine that kind of behavior is considered to be civil.

A civil human being looks at the world, and yes they see the ugly, but on top of that they see a way around the ugly, and keep it in their minds that there is always hope and always beauty. You seem totally incapable of any of that, and not only is not civil, it's not human.

I'm not sure this is a terribly useful point. Whether it's an insult or not, it is defamatory and it shocks me that Mr. Gog is so tolerant of the witch hunts that go on in these threads. Sure most of the people probably deserve it, but still, there's no protection at all for cases of mistaken identity.

I'm not personally sure that I'd want to come back here if my first contact with the community was being accused of being nes or whoever.

Glad to see that there's enough drama in here without me needing to mention I'm friends with Lugum again. With that mentioned, I'd like to extended my apologies to him publicly(privately already done) for all that drama many moons ago. There's a lot to be said about assumptions and accusations in life. Judas nailed it with the following:

"I hope we, as a community, have learned to be more careful with our giveaways and about gifting in general. Just for the record, we aren't calling for a complete moratorium on giveaways, just that the gifters make the giveaways something fun and less prone to abuse by requiring a modicum of effort on the part of the entrants of said giveaways."

People can only "scam" what they are given. What an individual gives is up to them, as is the method and means of gifting. Be smart people :)

Your opinion, that there should be no lists is so completely short-sighted that its completely stupid...
These threads have saved many people from being scammed and helped many gifters avoid giving gifts to scammers and traders. Just because you choose to be too blind to see it, doesn't change that fact.

Frankly, I'm not sure how many people want to come back to this community after being scammed by Wakalo or nes the first time they attempt to trade. As to new forum goers being denied a gift in giveaways, then maybe they need to prove themselves a bit first. If someone new gets a bad impression of these forums just because they were denied entry to a giveaway, I'm not sure that's who I want to gift to anyway. What did they "do" to deserve these free gifts? Are they just here for the free games?

i am not adding to this thread anymore, just linking to the wiki page.i feel partially responsible for the downfall of this community and i just don't have the energy for checking every claim myself. But I must say that GOG has coded its page badly, showing a lack of foresight.
In a way this was bound to happen. Wakalo/NES/GOG's Next Topscammer merely took/is taking advantage of it. But this paranoia i do feel partially (and quite strongly) responsible for.
