adaliabooks: I don't think any of it should be that difficult, as long as players follow the right format. The most difficult bit might be making people spell each others names right when voting... XD
That can be easily solved by adding a control that generates your vote/unvote automatically making sure the format and names are consistent.

The only problem is that it may take a bit of the fun for some players who like to do stuff like

vote that handsome devil dedo

but sacrifices have to be made for the sake of progress!

@adalia, I'll follow up with you for some brainstorming about what we can do and I'm sure we can figure something out.

Good point, automating voting and other tasks would ensure the format is right for whatever scanning needed to occur.

No problem, I'm happy to help :)
It's too bad something can't be done about the 10 minute timer.

I just did it (merge/edit) and I'm filled with self loathing.

I actually have an idea on how to handle that as well :)

you mean...somewhere where you weren't supposed to? I mean...hopefully you weren't referencing an ongoing game outside of the game thread... :þ

An automated voting script could make it kind of fun for those times when you want to pretend to vote and don't actually want to vote, so you can enter in vote dedoprono and make everyone think you meant to vote dedo and then not actually, go afk and come back and not notice or be like "ooops" when people point it out to you. As it is, I really wish votes only counted when names were spelled correctly so I could slip these in once in a while.

What I really want is a way to embed pictures into the posts instead of having to make them attachments that you have to open.

This might actually be possible (depends on where the attached pictures go, which domain), and I've toyed around with the idea, but at the end of the day I hate embedded pictures so I'm not sure I'll bother implementing it...

That would be a great chance to explore your creativity; I believe that ancient Greek has no word for "lurking".

I actually prefer that they're attachments, this way one can skip them if they don't want to view them. If they were embed they'd be in our faces whether we wanted to see them or not.

Please don't, AF is not exclusively used in forum mafia games.

I know, to be honest I don't see any use for it in the context of mafia games, and if I did implement it it would have a switch to turn off for those who didn't want to see them (but like I said, I hate embedded pictures too so I'm not likely to put the effort in to making it work...)

While I agree everywhere else, for forum mafia games I'd like it. I'd turn it off while not playing forum mafia.
But you saying this makes me think of an option to have it auto-minimized so that you can just + it and then see it where it is intended to go in the post, if you want.

I see adalia doesn't see a point/like having them embedded in the posts too. Here is why I'd like it: in posting my flavor, pictures to illustrate/represent certain things at a certain time within the post would benefit the flow/flavor/atmosphere of it all. I'd probably only utilize it while modding (I have a bunch of pictures to go along with flavor in my game setup, but seeing them in a different window after you've read the entire post doesn't affect the reader the same way.)

[...]
That's the same as attached images go in terms of end-result, so I don't see why anyone would/should invest time and effort to implement such a feature.
I think time and effort would be better spent to tackle the native auto-merge function of the forum, if that's possible, and dedoporno's post #3235 give hope.

When I gave my feedback on the NAS, I used a number of attached images to illustrate my points. What I did is mention the attachment that corresponded to specific points of my post while I was making them. Given the responses I got from other users, I assure you that there were people that had each image in a separate tab/window open while reading what I had written.

You could do the same. Those inclined enough to view the images will open them at the relevant flavour-point(s).

Not quite the same, the attaching is down at the bottom, so you have to scroll, a +/- feature would be anywhere within the post you wanted to place it. But I agree, time and energy are probably better spent elsewhere, but it's something I'd really like to see, probably moreso than an auto-mated vote system or whatever else (not that I think those are a bad idea, I just like doing things manually and keeping track of everything by hand myself so I really have a grasp on it all and am in control and have it exactly how I want so I can "see" it all the best way that suits me) - as nice as the voting script is on MU, I still actually just prefer my method and would find automation superfluous. And then there are those times when votes are alterable or whatever and the automation adds confusion or is a hinderance.

I did it for all the steps in my pizza sharing thread. I don't intend to have nearly that many pictures in the flavor and it would probably be more jarring to feel like you should go down and open an image and view it at a specific time that it wouldn't have the same affect as just seeing it in the midst of the flavor, and so at that point probably better to just have it opened once the post is read.

Dedo, other than the vote-count thing, did you have other ideas on what you might want to see implemented? We should have a list of each potential thing to implement, and then keep a tally of who wants which the most so that they get done in the order of servicing the most people sooner, perhaps.

You want to talk about a different world?

The current GOG game is five days old, and just hit 175 posts.

I'm playing a MU game using a 12/12 cycle. That's 12 hour days, 12 hour nights. Every 24 hours is a new game Day.

(With players from all over the world in it, btw JMich.)

First 12 hour Day?

1100+ posts.

It's less of a matter of who wants what but rather what can be done without investing too much time and effort into it and still useful enough to be done.
Well, I think I'm finally finalized on everything I can be for running my setup.

That is, until I get feedback and possibly tweak things to further improve upon it, or I make any alterations between now and when it runs, but, it's gone from 97-100% refined as far as I can do at this point in the past week and I am set with it as much as I can be for now!

It's pretty exciting, to have the entire stage set, many of the potential plotlines imagined in my head but still knowing anything could happen, and wanting very much to see what does. Yeeep yep!

For those that might not be aware (I know most are..., but we've had some new people and there are always possibly new people looking in!), this will be the first game I have created or moderated!! It's pretty exciting to me!

I'm quite happy with where I'm at in my play experience with where my hosting spot is coming to be, though I certainly could have gone for it in a few more games (and months) like I had anticipated, and one more assist-moderating chance, but I think the rush and pressure of knowing it was coming much faster than I initially anticipated allowed me to thrive with it a bit more than I might have otherwise (how I work sometimes, I get more seeds planted in that crucial week, than the 2+ optional weeks I could plant things before that, and it actually serves me better because of varying things.) And I'm not wary of the fact that I haven't assisted more at all by any means, I think I have a good grasp on things.

I will say that the signup flavor post isn't as well written or engaging as I'd like it to be, because it is mostly just setting up the facts and history of the establishment of the village where the events take place, but that I find (and my partner does too) that the opening flavor posts when the game actually starts is quite engaging and will flow quite well and get you all pumped for it, I hope. So if the signup flavor doesn't grab you, don't let that disuade you, everything else in the game is going to be much better!

That makes sense, but what other things aside from vote count? I just can't really think of what things might be useful, whether more or less or just potentially or whatever.
