Join GOG – Where Games Live Forever

We’re a legendary gaming platform where passion for games meets cutting-edge technology and an amazing community. Every month, millions of gamers visit GOG to explore a catalog of over 10,000 titles - from cult classics to the hottest indie and AAA hits. But for us, it’s not just about numbers - it’s about keeping the spirit of gaming alive for generations. Through our Preservation Program, we bring classic games back to life, making them accessible and fully playable on modern systems. As part of the CD PROJEKT Group (creators of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series), we’re on a mission to make games live forever.

We’re looking for a Product Engineering Team Lead to join our Mission Product Team. In this role, you’ll act as the driver of product delivery, ensuring the team ships impactful features on time and at high quality, while working closely with Product Management and Design to align technology, product, and user experience.

Why this role exists: At GOG, engineers don’t just write code - they shape products millions of gamers use every day. To do this at scale, we need leaders who can combine technical expertise, product sense, and people skills. This role exists to ensure our product teams deliver with clarity, speed, and quality: balancing day-to-day delivery, evolving our engineering practices, and creating an environment where developers can do their best work. You’ll act as both a technical partner (hands-on when needed) and a people leader (mentoring, growing, and aligning the team), while driving collaboration with product and design to turn ideas into real outcomes.

What success looks like in the first 6–12 months:

  • Delivery is predictable and transparent, with improvements visible in metrics like DORA/SPACE.
  • The team operates as a high-performing unit with strong ownership, collaboration, and clear accountability.
  • Product priorities are well aligned with technical feasibility thanks to your partnership with Product and Design.
  • Players experience tangible improvements in preservation and community features, shipped reliably and at high quality.
  • Team members receive regular, constructive feedback, show visible growth, and feel safe to innovate and challenge ideas.

Responsibilities:

What you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Lead planning, resourcing, and execution of delivery, ensuring clarity of goals and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate daily with Product and Design to shape priorities and translate them into actionable engineering work.
  • Stay hands-on when needed - contribute to frontend (Angular), backend (PHP), or architectural discussions.
  • Facilitate retrospectives and feedback sessions, coaching the team to continuously improve.
  • Promote engineering best practices (scout rule, code reviews, testing, performance focus) and ensure they are consistently applied.

Job Requirements:

What will help you succeed:

  • Leadership experience: 3+ years as an Engineering/Team Lead, with a proven record of building and guiding cross-functional teams.
  • Strong engineering background: 5+ years as a software engineer in e-commerce, B2C, or gaming.
  • Hands-on expertise: at least 2 years in frontend (Angular) or backend (PHP7/8, ideally Symfony).
  • Proven ability to design and implement solutions in complex systems, including architectural decisions.
  • Excellent communicator: able to give clear, caring feedback, and challenge status quo when needed.
  • Experience with mentoring, performance management, and career development.
  • Customer focus: always anchoring technical decisions in product outcomes.
  • Fluency in English and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Passion for games and the gaming industry.
