Join gamers keeping classics alive

GOG Patrons is a community of like-minded gamers who fund games restoration and want to actively shape its future

The Games that shaped you are disappearing

Remember those games that changed how you think about gaming?
Games crafted with passion, not by committee?

Every year, more of them vanish forever – and with them, a piece of who we are.

Obsolete systems

Old games often can’t run on today’s computers. Without fixes, updates, or legal emulation, they’re left unplayable.

Lost source code

The original files and assets are often lost or damaged, making faithful restoration nearly impossible.

Expired Licenses

Rights expire or vanish in legal limbo, preventing beloved games from ever being re-released.

GOG Preservation Program logo

We made fixing this problem our mission.

For nearly two decades, we’ve brought forgotten classics back to life - testing, fixing, and adapting them for modern systems.

Because of this, millions of gamers can enjoy games from the '90s and '00s again.

Games that will be playable forever.
Always DRM-free.

Plus, there are over 20,000 games on our Dreamlist waiting to be brought to GOG – and eventually into our Preservation Program

Together, we can scale and accelerate this ongoing effort to keep gaming history alive.

Preservation Reviving forgotten games that you vote for via the GOG Dreamlist, working directly with rights holders
Tune-Up Implementing fixes based on community feedback through patches, mods, and reverse engineering to make games play better than ever
Care & Upkeep Maintaining our existing catalog and ensuring compatibility as operating systems evolve – all DRM-free
Better Tools Developing internal tools to fix more games and expand the Preservation Program

Resident Evil 1/2/3 covers

“One of the community's most requested games (or rather, set of games) has finally been fulfilled. Thank you, GOG, and thank you, Capcom! Dino Crisis cover

“Thank you GOG! I never played the original Dino Crisis since I have never had any console, but I've always heard that Dino Crisis is a must play for any gamer. GOG did such a good job giving us the opportunity to experience this on PC.” – Tomas_Casas

Frequently Asked Questions

Don't worry, GOG Patrons is not a subscription for your games. Everything you've bought on GOG stays yours, DRM-free, forever. Nothing about how the platform works is changing. Patrons is a separate monthly membership that lets you support GOG directly and enjoy a few extra perks and recognition along the way. It's completely optional and has no effect on your library.

The GOG Preservation Program is our ongoing effort to save classic games from being lost to time. That means working to secure rights, fixing compatibility so they run hassle-free on modern systems, and even rebuilding missing features so the experience is the best you can get, while staying true to the original.

When you become a Patron, your contribution goes directly into supporting GOG's work. It helps us cover our daily operations and things like licensing old titles, hiring engineers to make them playable again, and building tools that keep them alive for the long term.

Nothing that's already part of the GOG experience is being put behind a paywall. Patrons get a few optional perks as a thank-you, but all the core features of the platform stay the same and fully available to everyone.
No. Our mission of making games live forever has never been as visible as it is today. We're doing well, and this year has been especially encouraging.

The GOG Preservation Program keeps growing, the GOG Dreamlist has become a rallying point for unreleased classics, GOG One-click Mods are expanding. We've brought back some truly iconic titles, and more are on the way. More people are joining GOG than ever. In every way, GOG is thriving. The momentum is real.

GOG Patrons isn't a lifeline. It's a way to go further, faster. Preservation takes time, resources, and people. And while we've always found a way, we know we can do even more: with your support.
Buying games on GOG is always a great way to support both us and the publishers who bring their titles to the platform. GOG Patrons is a little different, as your monthly support goes directly to us, without being shared. It's a simple way to help us move faster, while your regular purchases continue to support the wider gaming ecosystem.
As a Patron, you'll get access to our dedicated community Discord server, featuring fun gaming-related activities and exclusive video content, plus special recognition across GOG in the form of unique badges and mentions on GOG Preservation Program game pages. Perks may grow or change over time, but we'll always communicate them clearly before you sign up.
As an active Patron, you can join our dedicated Discord server anytime from your GOG profile, and you're free to leave whenever you like. While you're there, server rules apply to keep things fun and respectful for everyone. If your Patron status ends, your access to the server will end too.
Your nickname will appear on the game pages in the right section, showing your support for game preservation efforts.
While we'll share examples of projects made possible with community support, we can't guarantee specific future outcomes. What we do promise is transparency: we'll keep you updated on what your support helps us achieve in our ongoing mission to preserve games.
GOG Patrons is $5 per month, or the equivalent in your local currency. The price already includes Tax where it applies, so there are no hidden charges or anything like that.
You'll be charged once a month, always on the same calendar day you signed up. If that day doesn't exist in a given month (like the 31st), the charge will happen on the last day of that month instead.
No, it's a recurring monthly fee. Your Patron status automatically renews each month until you decide to cancel. Canceling is quick and hassle-free, and you can do it anytime.
If your payment doesn't go through, we'll automatically try again up to two more times. If all attempts fail, your Patron membership will simply end and your benefits will stop. Don't worry, you can rejoin anytime once your payment method is updated.
Yes, absolutely! You can cancel your Patron status anytime in your account settings. After canceling, your benefits will stay active until the end of the current billing period, and you won't be charged again. You're always welcome to come back whenever you'd like.
Just head to Orders & Settings → GOG Patrons and click "Cancel monthly support".
GOG Patrons payments are non-refundable once activated, even if you cancel mid-period. The good news is you'll keep your Patron status and perks until the end of your current billing cycle. You can always see your end date in Account Settings or in the cancellation confirmation email.
You can manage or cancel your Patron membership anytime in your Orders & Settings under the GOG Patrons section.
You can always check the latest GOG Patrons Terms . A copy will also be sent to your email after you join. As long as you're an active Patron, we'll notify you about any important updates to the Terms.
