Description
Magic has been banned from the great Underground Empire of Zork. By edict of the Grand Inquisitor Mir Yannick, the Empire has been sealed off and the practice of mystic arts declared punishable by "Totemization" (a very bad thing). The only way to restore magic to the kingdom is to find three hidden artifacts: The Coconut of Quendor, The Cube of Foundation, and The Skull of Yoruk.

Join forces with Dungeon Master Dalboz who calls you "AFGNCAAP"( politically-correct initialism for "Ageless, Faceless, Gender-Neutral, Culturally-Ambiguous Adventure Person") and together you travel throughout the Underground Empire's many locations, such as Hades, Flood Control Dam #3 and The Dungeon Master's Lair in an attempt to find the three missing artifacts and bring about the fall of the Inquisition.

Zork: Grand Inquisitor is the last installment of the famous Zork adventure series. It uses the same formula as its predecessor: first-person perspective, 360 degree camera rotation, pre-rendered backgrounds, and live actors. Humor and comical pop-culture references accompany you throughout the entire game and guarantee that you will never get bored. So if you are looking for a not so serious oldschool adventure then this gem is for you.
  • Stunning graphics and enchanting music absorb you into over 30 unique 360⁰ environments
  • Live action video and voice acting by stars such as Dirk Benedict, Michael McKean and David Landerr.
  • Visit the famous landmarks that made Zork legendary. Enlist the aid of three fantastic characters on your magic quest through Zork

One of the best adventure games ever

This sure tops my list of best adventure games. it is difficult to compare it to others, fairly, since all were released at a certain time and limited by the available technology. However I think ZGI is still very playable. I bought it (even though I own the disk version) just to see how it looked again and found myself playing it today for a few hours. Obviously the graphics are a bit dated but due to the FMV and 360 degrees panoramic view still very playable. The scenery itself is beautiful. Clearly a lot of effort went into making this game, famous actors, no tedious stuff. Puzzles are logical contrary to most adventures of that time which is important to remember. When I first played the game I thought it was hard however in hindsight that might be because i often tried every inventory item on everything (as was standard in those days). Playing it today I realize that there is no need for that, puzzles do make sense however it is important to listen what people say and read everything you can (and remember the details). Good music, great humor and an enchanting environment. Highly recommended. This game is pure magic.. Wait a minute did I say magic I meant technologically this is a very good game , nobody needs magic anymore, please I really don't like to be to...

A fine example of Zorkian adventuring

"Your sword's blowing glue.... Wait, let me try that again. Your sword's glowing blue!" That is just one example of what makes this a great adventure game; the fact it taps into the quirky nature of the world of Zork, and the comedic touches it brings out, are all part of the fun that comes from adventuring in this wonderfully fantastic world of adventure. Forget finding rupees and delving into dungeons to beat bosses and collect heart containers. Forget battling ginormous bosses using magic, summonable creatures, and a couple of potions. Forget trying to smuggle out a document pass the noses of some hired goons who'd find it when frisking you when you leave the hotel. Zork is more about just giving you good puzzles to solve, and avoiding death and other nasty surprises that could end your game. Zork is about a witty story populated by hilarious characters and creatures, amusing background lore, and a reminder of what adventure games were like when it was all: ">INSERT COIN INTO SLOT "You insert the coin into the slot, causing a ticket to appear from the machine." This is a brilliant classic of an adventure game. The story is memorable, as are the characters, the puzzles are nicely done, and overall, it is great fun to play. A must for any adventure loving fans, and particularly those who love the Zork series.

This is true to Zork!

With only the nostalgia of Zork Returns prior to playing this, I was so happy to see the return of our live video character experiences. This game stayed true to the problem-solving theme of the first game and also continued with the same level of humor, if not more. What could be construed as either a positive or a negative, the object combinations were much more straightforward in this game. I was thoroughly impressed.

MVP point-and-click

I played this game when I was a child. It is one of the best old school point and click game out there. The universe is trully captivating. Filled with easter eggs and references. It discuss themes like tyranny and propaganda.

Does not work with Windows 7 64 Bit

Buyer beware. I and several other users have reported the game not working with Windows 7 (and some with Vista). I can play it on my netbook that's running Windows 7 32 Bit but on my 64 bit laptop, no dice.
