City Building MAGIC!

This game is quite the step up from Caesar and pharaoh. If you like a game that has lots of missions then look no further than Zeus. It provides hours of entertainment. You can build the perfect city. Every mission has new challenges. Your city gets saved after every mission then you expand on it in the next mission. Zeus has really refined all of the clunky building and designing that pharaoh or Caesar 3 had. It is much cleaner and more realistic. You do not have to have houses next to every building like in Pharaoh. Your citizens can work all the way at that lone wheat farm even if they live no where close. GREAT GAME. YOU WILL NO REGRET BUYING IT. AND FOR ONLY 5 dollars its a great buy. If you are interested in gameplay check out this playthrough. http://youtu.be/WOfItzGWFWI

Fun game from a good series

This game is great! If you like city builder games and haven't played this series, you should definitely play it. As for how it compares to other games in the series, the graphics aren't as good as more recent ones like Emperor, but the gods, heroes, and monsters walking around your city make it stand out as one of the most interesting. One thing about this game that makes it either better or worse than Pharoah, depending on your perspective, is that it tries to put all the information you need in tabs on the right side of the main game screen while you're looking at your city rather than having a detailed information screen that you have to pull up separately. One other thing that makes it different from the others in the series is that you have separate housing for the elite citizens and regular citizens (with many levels of quality within each type), and the elite citizens serve as your military. The regular citizens can be deployed for defense only as a weak militia, but their numbers can make them a powerful force. I've played Pharoah, and I've tried one of the Caesar games, but I haven't played Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. If anyone has played Zeus and Emperor, how do the two compare?

An all time favourite

I have played the game several times through the years and still love to come back to it. I like the atmosphere, the humor, the greek theme and even the graphics having in mind the age of the game.

Perhaps the best City builder

This gets a 5/5 from me. I recommend a youtube tutorial on how to properly build a "city block" to make sure resources are given to your citizens in the most efficient possible. I tried playing it when I was much younger and didn't understand that concept, so that is a good place to start if you want to know how to make your city actually function without people starving or getting mad all of the time (while you have enemies attack your palace). With that being said, this game is very charming. Love the deep dive (but tongue in cheek) stab at Greek mythology and stories. You will find yourself immersed trying to please a god or hold a horde of wine-thirsty centaurs back! A game appropriate for all ages, they keep the crude stuff out, but give just enough to where adults too can enjoy it (I still ocassionaly play it after having played it over a decade ago at this point). I doubt we will ever see a remake or a sequel by the same people, but if they ever did, you can rest assured that this gamer would be happy. This one is a MUST HAVE for your collection, especially if you are into city builders with some fun not-so-serious backdrop, while still somehow making you feel immersed in ancient lore.
