'Tis Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.
What a fantastic game. The combat is excellent, I feel that playing on hard might have been too easy, so maybe go higher. The story is minimal most times, which actually lets you play the dang game! The majority of the characters are lovable, and the concept of the setting interests me greatly. Oh, and you can fish! This is the first Ys game I beat.
I left my heart on the Isle of Seiren.
As of now, July of 2021 , the game is stable and fun, i did not experience any bugs at all
Gameplay is nice, it has a lot of cutscenes, but you can either skip or speed up them.
For the first playthough, it took me around 45 hours to finish the main story along with most of the side quests.
I really enjoyed it, looking forward to play YS 9 !
Great game with fluid combat, good characters, and music. Pacing can be a bog with a lot of side stuff that slows things down, but you don't have to do it all.
Yeah it took me a while to get to this one, but I'm glad I did. I actually played through the entire Ys series in 2020 and while they were all wonderful in their own way, Ys VIII was by far the best and most complete of the series. I recommend it as an entry to the series if you're not really up for playing through the older games first.
I played through all of the content I could, but there were some things I missed that will have to be collected in a second playthrough someday. I spent over 70 hours in the game on the first playthrough, but I am very much a completionist that doesn't like to look up the answers in a guide.
I recommend testing the default button layout and changing it to something that suits you a little more. The action is fast and furious, so you need to be comfortable and not frustrated. I changed almost every default button on my Xbox One controller in the game settings. That said, the movement felt very good after that and the combat is nice and fast, very snappy, and you feel powerful as any one of the six in your party. They all have some amazing abilities!
The game starts simple and adds new characters and complexity to the plot as you go through the game. There are lots of skills to learn which improve as you use them in combat, and there is plenty of equipment to improve as progress. Adol can spend time with each of the characters, even the pet parrot, so it really feels like a complete and satisfying experience by the end.
Ys VIII is highly recommended, and it was my game of 2020 even though it was released years ago!
There are countless series of games that have been developed and sold on various platforms. Up to nine YS works have been released. But wouldn't it be the best eight? Simple action manipulation and easy interface. The story is also good enough to be easily accessible. The graphic follows the original PS Vita edition, so it is a bit disappointing, but it is attractive enough to play with the feeling of watching a 3D cartoon. Personally, as a user who has played all the YS series, I recommend you to play this game. The beginning of Action-JRPG and the original game of the frame was YS, and it was Nihon Falcom that produced it. Games like the Diablo series are popular now, but let's not forget that the YS series is the original.
