Good but underwhelming
It's a nice game but I experienced a couple of negatives I didn't see mentioned in other reviews: 1. The amount of tricky jumping involved. Admittedly not that many instances, but it's a small game with not much combat challenge so the frustrating jumps really stood out. 2. Almost no challenge on standard difficulty; and the classic Ys leveling seemed broken for me. Instead of each area seeming deadly for 1-2 levels, every area is only mildly threatening and after a couple of screens exploration I had gained the extra levels to make the area outright easy. I definitely had more fun with Oath in Felghana and with the original PC Engine Ys I and II It was definitely worth trying and I'm glad to have it in the collection, but I'm not sure I'd ever play it again.

Fun but short
Ys6, it's fun to play, but i personally didn't enjoy the grindy aspect once enemies become too strong. other than that. it's a good time.

Ys 1&2 put the bar too high
Disappointed after being blown away by Ys 1&2. The worldbuilding is still here, the game looks great, but NPCs personalities are less polished than Ys 1&2, especially now that I tasted the barebones but heartwarming gift mechanic of Ys 2. Ys 1&2 also conditioned me to be very aware of every single thing, and while I carried this awareness over to Ys VI, I quickly realized that "paying attention" was quite unrewarding, which got me less involved into it. And of course, while Ys 1&2 quite respect the player's time (only a bit of grind needed in Ys 2), Ys VI is way too grindy, so much that I ended up uninstalling after obtaining the 3rd sword because on top of my hours of grind, I wasn't that attached to the story.
