Rediscover a Legend

The Hyperion is back, reimagined and ready to leave its mark on the universe once more! This iconic ship introduces an exciting new ship classification: the Expeditionary class. Seamlessly blending raw power, agility, and a compact yet versatile design, the Hyperion captures the essence of the Paranid like never before.

A New Class of Power and Agility

The Hyperion redefines the limits of what a capital ship can achieve. Despite its classification as an L-class ship, it stands out with its sleek, lightweight frame and unparalleled manoeuvrability. Slightly larger than a frigate, this unique ship punches above its weight class by combining heavy-duty large (L) equipment with an exceptionally small target signature. Its capabilities include:

  • Six main gun mounts, designed for devastating offensive capabilities
  • M-sized turrets, offering robust defensive coverage
  • L-class shielding and engines, delivering superior durability and mobility in a remarkably compact frame
  • Enhanced missile capacity, ensuring sustained firepower in prolonged engagements

Its agility and firepower make it an ideal choice for daring solo operations or engaging in high-stakes battles, provided there's room to leverage its impressive manoeuvrability. The Hyperion also comes equipped with a single docking bay, capable of accommodating and repairing up to two S-class ships, adding logistical and strategic flexibility to your missions.

New Adventures Await

The Hyperion isn't just a ship - it's a symbol of innovation and adaptability. With features like repair and resupply capabilities for docked ships, above-average cargo capacity for a combat ship, and a crew complement well-suited to boarding operations, this ship thrives in the hands of skilled pilots. Whether you're navigating dangerous trade routes, engaging in piracy, or leading fleets into uncharted territory, the Hyperion is your ultimate companion.

Prepare to command a legend. Are you ready to reshape your destiny in the universe of X4: Foundations?

Lazy & Expensive

The positive first: The ship exterior is done with great care and very beautiful. Sounds and effects are great. The parts you can walk around in seamlessly are great aswell and the ship is all around very cool. It fills a niche between a large Destroyer and a nimble Corvette very well. The negative: Compare to previous offerings the content you get for 7€ is laughable. A single ship with a handful of sectors, one gamestart and a super short storyline. But what really made me feel ripped off is the fact that they didn't even bother to model unique crewquarters and cellblocks into the game. They are cut and pasted from any other ship. So you walk around the great new interior, enter the teleporter and beam into the crewquarters and you are greeted with a completely different design that doesn't fit at all into the Hyperion. That is insulting for the price, especially compared to what you got in the past in DLC's. If you are a great fan of the X-series like me you'll still enjoy it, otherwise it is not worth it.

Neat Ship, Good changes

The ship is cool looking and is handy in a fight - doesn't have the endurance of the bigger boys but easy to scoot around and break capital turrets off - had a good time taking a I down. The new sectors are convenient for trade or expanding your space empire so no complaints there. The overall re-balancing that came with it in the update are pretty good - larger ships are safer to leave in the hands of the AI now that boosting doesn't burn their very slow to regen shield and the drones don't stick to the hull which is a huge plus to me. Ships seem more fun to fly and I actually use the third person cam now lol

Here we go again...

Like Timelines, there's no Linux version on launch, again! This is getting old GOG. Don't advertise Linux support if you don't have the installer ready! This is getting frustrating. I'll revisit the review when I can actually play the DLC. Ridiculous.

Good times

The first two hours after I installed the Hyperian Pack was a blast. I loaded my current fairly new game in progress, about 40 hours in, and wondered when the mission would pop to get the ship. I did not not have to wait long. Finding the ship is pretty straight forward, but you have to wait for it to get back to Paranid space, a couple of minutes, and when I landed on it and talked to the captain he handed me the keys. But there was a second part to the mission, gathering some supplies, and I needed three Programmable Field Arrays. Rats, I've been selling them off for hours. I set myself up in a Katana by the gate in Hatikva, and a couple of minutes later two K's and a I showed up, with all of their friends. There where some Argon ships around and one K bellied up to a station and died so I just sent a scout ship around gathering the multitude of crates. In the meantime I scored three more PE's for my fleet. After the dust settled I had four of the Field Arrays so I went back, and was handed the keys to a second Hyperian. Both ships came with very experienced captains as well. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to go down, but it was nice. As soon as I got both ships a Phonex pirate ship was causing trouble in Bright Promise, right next door, so I headed over there to test one of these bad boys out. The battle was evenly matched, until I ran out of countermeasures. He was ripping me to shreds as I backpedaled and realized his range was much better than mine. I switched to Hyperian number two and finished him. Two hours of pure fun, and more to come in the future I'm sure. There are many small but nice improvements in the 7.50 version and the Hyperian Pack is a no brainier, well worth the price.

Bought it to support future releases

Nice little starter ship to run around in. Quest gives you one for free almost immediately after a quest and another after a fetch quest. Gives free repairs to S ships and can store up to 2. One in storage, one in the hanger. Fairly quick, sports 6 front capital cannons and 4 M turrets and some storage for trading as well as a crafting table in the bridge. Love the exotic interior and exterior view. Is this the first ship in the game whose interior color scheme matches the paintjob you customise it with from a shipyard? Optional buy. Other in game ships outperform this one. I wonder if expansions to the story may be added if it does well enough? Very curious about the station related to this ship. It has PAR, KHA and XEN elements. Looks like an unfinished story I hope will be continued.
